They did so through a statement issued this Tuesday. “They are not ghosts, they exist,” they alleged.

Days after the Government announced the cut of subsidies to more than a thousand groups in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area ( AMBA ), the Transportation companies echoed the decision made by the national authorities and defended the 1,637 units that will suffer. the cuts.

It was through a statement signed by AAETA, CEAP, CEUTUPBA and CTPBA, in which the representatives of the sector detailed the situation of the questioned cars and assured that all of them have up-to-date insurance and VTV.
“Due to the repeated delay in the payment of subsidies and calculation errors, absolute responsibility of the State, the millions of users of AMBA buses perceive the reduction in the number of buses providing service (despite the fact that they exist) situation. which had already been analyzed between the State and the business chambers last year,” the letter begins.

Manuel Adorni announced the removal of subsidies last Friday

The text continues: “The Cost Structure used to determine subsidies incorporates the number of real kilometers measured by the GPS that each unit has, being measured (along with the prices of inputs) by the State itself. The Secretary of Transportation is solely responsible for such process, using electronic means to measure service provision since 2013."

In this sense, the companies affirm that the portfolio in charge of the area was aware of the situation and that the particular cases of these units had been analyzed during the month of January, when it was decided to "correct some differences."
Regarding the news recently communicated by the national authorities, they noted: “ We have not chosen or requested this subsidy regime , nor the changes in criteria in measuring the fleet, or the percentages of reserve cars due to damage caused by the greater age of the vehicles. fleet, which should be 15%, according to regulations, instead of 10%, thus completely changing the conclusion.”

And he continues: “The State is the one who decides that the AMBA charges one of the cheapest rates in Argentina, offering in exchange subsidies that do not reflect the real costs, and which are then paid late, causing damage to the service for the reason that which the user has perceived fewer buses on the street, for some time now.”

Towards the end of the statement, the representatives of the sector affirm that the solution is to correct the calculations and include the missing items mentioned ( price of diesel, liters of diesel consumed, price of vehicles, underestimation of various costs that have not been updated since 2021 and interest rates ) so that all buses can circulate on the streets again.

They also propose a plan B: “Or alternatively, stop subsidizing companies and instead subsidize the passenger, or charge rates in line with reality as in other places in the country. "Available to provide the elements that demonstrate this situation."

The determination to eliminate financial aid to the more than a thousand groups of the AMBA was known last Friday when the Ministry of Transportation carried out a study of the automotive system and decided to stop subsidizing them because it detected serious irregularities.

“The State has distributed subsidies for 18,300 groups, but it was never controlled if this amount was the one that passed through the AMBA. “Clearly a non-existent offer was subsidized,” Manuel Adorni had pointed out during the press conference that he offers daily at the Casa Rosada.

In his presentation he explained: "This dismantles a faucet of waste and inefficiency that was very expensive for all of us: we will save $6.2 billion pesos per month," said the presidential spokesperson, who also announced that soon they will try to "determine the path that each unit performs to make the transportation service more efficient.”
