We were fortunate to have a second trip to Buenos Aires this year, making it our 8th visit since 2007. This time, we explored the outskirts, starting from EZE airport, making a wide north-westerly arc. We stayed at Hotel Sofitel La Reserva Cardales, enjoying the spa after a 10-day hiking adventure in Patagonia. Lujan and Pilar, two charming cities not far from the tourist-centric barrios of Buenos Aires, were highlights, known for their cathedrals, plazas, parillas, and warm hospitality.
On the third day, we visited Escobar, northwest of Tigre, with its incredible cemetery and the amazing zoo/biopark Temaiken. Temaiken, a blend of zoo, biosphere, and agricultural commune, impressed us with its raised boardwalks, offering an up-close encounter with animals. The park had a spectacular aquarium, a bat house, a bird sanctuary, interactive exhibits, and kid-friendly areas. It was one of the best zoos we've experienced.
Back in the city, we stayed in Recoleta at Hotel Mio Buenos Aires, reconnecting with friends and revisiting familiar streets and neighborhoods. We biked in the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve, enjoying surreal views of the city. The trip included memorable gastronomic experiences at various restaurants:

- Hernan Gipponi Restaurant (Soler 5862, Hotel Fierro): A formidable restaurant with near-perfect food, wine, service, atmosphere, and noise level. Expensive but worth it for a special occasion.
- BoBo Hotel (Guatemala 4870): A civilized place in Palermo SoHo, offering a calm and sophisticated ambiance. Ideal for a relaxing lunch with great food and service.
- Filo (San Martín 975): An eclectic place serving some of the best pizza in Argentina. The Ensalada Gigi and Pizza Alla Giani are highly recommended.
- Lo de Paka (Avenida Congreso 2011): A reasonably priced parilla in Belgrano known for its good eats, especially the pollo a la parilla.
- A Nos Amours (Gorriti 4488): A quaint French bistro in Palermo SoHo, offering organic, artisanal goodies. A great place to unwind and enjoy French-influenced food.
- Tarquino (Rodriguez Pena 1967): An inspired creation by chef Dante Liporace, offering a sophisticated atmosphere and spectacular dishes. Expensive but an exceptional dining experience.
