El Mercado at Faena Hotel in Puerto Madero Dead - No tourists and all locals. Usually when you come here on a Friday night there are a lot of foreign tourists here eating or at the hotel. Last night I did not see one foreigner listening to them talking. All locals. Tourism is very slow now.
Yesterday I ate so much beef. I thought I had to tap out on beef but El Mercado at the Faena Hotel does a great Bife de Chorizo and has great mollejas.
I was really tired from running non-stop since I landed a few days ago but my Whatsapp always blows up with friends that want to meet up while I am in town. There are never enough hours/days to see all of them.
(So I apologize to those of you that wanted to meet up this trip and just impossible).
I met with another architect friend of mine. Many know that I had the 20 year dream to build my own 5-star boutique apartment hotel. I have been looking for the perfect spot of land and may have found it.
So hopefully working on that project over the next year. I wanted to get some design inspiration as I still remember the first time I walked into the Faena Hotel and feeling the hip and cool feeling.
I ate at their restaurant, El Mercado last night with my friend. We weren't too hungry but we grabbed a half a bottle of wine, water, lemonade, Mojellas, mixed salad and we shared a delicious Bife de Chorizo.
Man, the wine prices have really gone up in these nice places. Half a bottle of wine was 72,000.
220,500 pesos for dinner ($185 USD) + tip.
