Food & Drink República del Fuego

My wife and I have a friend in town from Brazil, so we went to República del Fuego for dinner after church. Take my opinion for what it’s worth, but I’d say it was solidly competitive with Don Julio at much lower prices. Total for three, with three appetizers, three steaks, three sides and desserts came out to $84000 ($70 U.S. token) with card, or $75000 ($62.50 U.S. token) with the cash discount.

We got the ojo de bife, bife de chorizo and the entraña, but the star of the show was the bife de chorizo. It was magnificent and better than the last one I had at Don Julio or El Preferido, for significantly less.

10/10 experience, in my opinion. The only thing I’d change is that I wish it was a bit quieter inside. Definitely worthy of its place in the Michelin Guide, IMO. Or, to quote our friend, “Don’t cry for me Argentina, I’m going to eat all of your steak. Ojo de bife, ojo de bife… Ojo de bife, ojo de bife…”
Thank you so much @Darksider415 for this post. We tried this restaurant and you were right. Very good quality. I found the steak was as good or better than Don Julio and El Preferido as well which both have excellent steaks. The customer service was also friendlier.

10 out of 10.

Thanks again for posting about this place @Darksider415. I came with my cousin and it was one of her favorite meals of the trip. Staff is so friendly too., Food was delicious!

Thanks @Darksider415 for posting about this place. Great food! Very affordable too. The food was delicious. A fraction of the prices of food in a similar type of restaurant in major cities of the USA. Especially Southern California where I live.

We got a water, lemonade, Aperol Spritz, bread, Provelta, Mollejas (some of the best I have had in BA), Milenesa with pasta, Salad, and Pear dessert (also incredibly delicious). It was 76,100 pesos ($65 USD) and you could pay cash to get a discount so potentially 66,490 pesos ($56). I paid with my USA credit card. You can also pay the tip with a credit card. They just have a separate credit card terminal for tips but no problem at all using a card. This is great to avoid using cash.

Everything was very good. At lunch it was full with mostly locals judging by listening to people speaking. I heard the person next to us and they were speaking Russian but going out mostly locals. Not too many tourists which is normally the case this time of the year.

The pears are always wonderful there. We like them there and at Il Quotidiano.

The prices look very good for a Michelin guide restaurant!
Yes it's a Bib Gourmand listing that offer high-quality food at reasonable prices. You can see the list here. I've been to several of these places in BA and around the world and they are great.

Il Quotidiano is also great pasta at decent prices. My hands down favorite Italian restaurant is Sotto Voce and it's the same owner as that restaurant.

Is this a chain? I saw a few different locations around BA. I didn't go thinking they were some chain restaurant and I don't like chain restaurants but I will give them a shot next month.
