Education A sensitive issue in Argentine society that could tarnish Milei's image: Cutbacks in public education

Milei never talked about closing universities. The other side always tries to lie. https://www.batimes.com.ar/news/argentina/milei-says-he-will-keep-state-universities-and-attacks-the-opposition.phtml

Banking Credit Card real-world rate "MEP" transaction repo (Dec2023)

I support Milei but I have to admit I am not so sure how things will turn out by the end of this year. If things don't turn around by July he will be done and have a noose around his head. Doesnt matter what Time Magazine says when people can't eat or pay their bills.

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

Aint this the truth! I have a buddy that is always trying to chase the lowest cost of living but I joke with him that by the time he legally gets all the paperwork to stay there it isn't cheap anymore. Plus in most places now it is stricter and more difficult to get legal residency. My friend...

Tips for my 2 weeks trip to BA - Apartment recommendations

I'm not sure I would waste a day in Colonia. It is kind of boring. Not too much to do or see. I think you could skip it. The rest of your itinerary looks good. You will be ok if you go with a tour. I wouldn't recommend going alone if you've never been there.

Argentina spends $300 Million USD on 24 used F-16 Jets from Denmark

Maybe. But just bad timing. I think maybe a change for Argentina is good but Milei is spending too much time outside of Argentina. Going to go receive awards, going to Israel, etc etc is not a good idea. Just focus on Argentina.

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

You can bet sure as sh*t if I came back from vacation and found squatters in my place I would just get a crew and get them out. No police needed!

What's the world coming to? Can't a guy kiss his girlfriend on live TV? Why do they hate me?

The timing of the breakup is suspicious. Milei visits Elon Musk and starts a bromance and immediately breaks up with his novia. Hmm. https://www.thenews.com.pk/latest/1178226-whats-brewing-between-elon-musk-and-argentine-president-javier-milei

    Be careful guys.....

This is the scene in Medellin now. Females setting fires protesting gringos there.

    Newcomer Is Buenos Aires safe?

Buenos Aires is relatively safe but there have always been minor theft of things like phones. It is picking up now that the economy is so bad. Didn't Apple come out with some theft deterrent system in their software? I got some notice to update my ios and said something about that.

Politics Milei said that he does not care if the opposition does not support the May Pact and stated: “Cristina is not coming back again.” - Infobae

Exactly. Milei is smart to do all of the painful measures all up front and quickly. It does hurt but this is the only smart method. Otherwise it drags on for years. I think he is going to pull this off. And it will forever change Argentina. Some of the things he is doing I never thought I...

    Be careful guys.....

Yep. Medellin is hostile. I just got back from there. 2 of my ex-wives are from here so I go here all the time. But the passport bros have ruined it for legitimate male tourists here. If you are obviously a gringo they will assume you're a sex-pat.

Does anyone else find it strange Argentina still thinks they won the Falklands War?

I read this today. Has anyone told Milei that NO ONE on the Falklands Islands wants to go back to Argentina? They are all happy being part of the UK. https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/02/americas/falklands-milei-argentina-sovereignty-roadmap-intl-latam/index.html

    Newcomer American moving to argentina

This seems reckless. No job and wanting to live in Argentina? I'm convinced that people are just reading blogs or watching YouTube and have this romanticized vision of what living in Argentina is like. I watch some Tik Toks and see some Twitter posts and people make it sound like living here...

Who is responsible for the monthly (expensas) on a rental? Landlord or Tenant?

I don't think foreigners can buy the insurance. My friend went through this last year. They kept telling him it was possible and then at the end they wouldn't allow him to as he had no local income. Maybe this has changed but this was only in November. He really liked the apartment and had to...

Has anyone replaced a lost or stolen passport at the USA Embassy in Buenos Aires?

GREAT idea. I'm going to start doing this.

Medical Healthcare medical monthly premiums are going to get increased!

This is the new normal. I'm paying over $750 now. Healthcare prices will never go back to what we were paying. Subsidies and good ole days are over in Argentina. Utilities are going up 300% and they will probably continue to keep going up. Sure there is a tipping point and people are...

Buenos Aires is the best city for dating

I agree nothing wrong with differences with income or life experiences. I have dated many females from Latin America and besides those from Buenos Aires most haven't been too well traveled but Argentines are the exception. Many females I met here are from families that seem to have money as...

Dating in Buenos Aires as a foreigner

This is excellent advice. I do the same thing and always helps. My issue is not meeting the girls. I just have to stop getting married and divorced. :)

Love Advice - Fell in love with an escort in Buenos Aires - Is it real love?

I am very happy your relationship seems to be going well. But I read in your other thread you are thinking of buying her an apartment??? Good God man. Come to your senses. Think about what you're doing.
