Argentina has highest rice price in the world now - Thank you Milei!

Food prices here have nothing to do with Milei. You can see all the various taxes that are priced on items here making them very pricey! From what I understand they are trying to reduce the import taxes.

Food & Drink Any great Bagels in Buenos Aires? Your tip for USA style bagels?

I saw the great pizza and Empanada threads. Anyone got any tips for good bagel places in Buenos Aires? I haven't been able to find decent bagels. I'm from New York City so I crave a good bagel.

Food & Drink Pizza Restaurants in Buenos Aires - What are some of your favorite pizza places in Buenos Aires, Argentina?

I'm from NYC originally! I noticed this place online. Is this the same Sbarro's in the USA?? Be still my beating heart if so! Please tell me someone has eaten here and it's the same or is it the "Argentine version of good NYC pizza"? LOL. https://sbarronyc.ar/sucursales...

Politics Thread: President Javier Milei - Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) in real-time

Seriously, restrictions on hanging out with 3 or more people? What's up with that? Seems pretty random! Ha! And about not liking judges in black robes – like, sorry? I get that this law has some points that need to be hashed out in Congress, and maybe some important stuff is missing. But, like...

Politics Thread: President Javier Milei - Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) in real-time

The head of the Argentina Property Association today said that all contracts will be ruled by the Commercial or Civil code that they were using before the 2020 Crazy Rental law change. It is their opinion that now contracts can be signed in whichever currency both sides agree to. It can be...

Legal Any risk to constantly overstaying on tourist visa? How many times can you do border runs in Argentina?

Like many of you fellow expats many years ago I also overstayed my tourist visa. In fact, for years before I finally applied. I did under the retirement category. Does anyone know how much you need to quality under that category now? I'm not sure if it would be more or less. BA is much...

Economy Argentina's Milei Devalues Peso by 54% in First Batch of Shock Measures - Bloomberg

I don't recall when you could go to Kansas for so cheap. What year was that? You seem to make it sound like BA is so expensive now when it's not that expensive. You keep saying most restaurants in BA are at US prices. That isn't true. Sure, there are probably some restaurants that are near US...

Newcomer Life in Buenos Aires after 1 month of living here as an expat

Why are you going to Uruguay? Just to get USD? I suppose for the rental to pay the owner? Can't you wire the funds? The owner doesn't have an account abroad? If they are pre-charging for one year up front I'd be leery about paying in actual cash. Although that is common I'd be worried about...

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

The cost of living is subjective and varies depending on one's perspective. It hinges on what one defines as "normal," their financial situation, and lifestyle choices. For instance, my dining habits involve eating out a couple of times weekly while preparing meals at home for the rest of the...

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

Many perma-tourists and digital nomads might choose to settle down here if they could maintain their remote work arrangements. Personally, I would consider making this place my permanent residence if I could continue working for my company, and I am contemplating transitioning to a contractor...

For Sale Who are buying apartment and homes in Buenos Aires? Prices seem high relative to wages.

A crucial aspect of deciding whether to purchase an apartment here involves thorough research into the administration company, administrator, doorman situation, and the monthly expenses. If these terms are unfamiliar, it's essential to understand them before committing to any agreement...

Taxes Argentinas global wealth tax system?

When I brought up the topic with a lawyer, he suggested the easiest way to avoid the wealth tax was to avoid becoming a resident, which would imply not living permanently in Argentina.

Newcomer Can I sign up for Mercado Libre on a 1 year tourist visa in Argentina? Help.

I'm skeptical that obtaining a CUIL or CUIT is possible without a DNI. A CDI might not be very helpful, as many people may not be familiar with it. It seems that the primary use of CDI is likely related to property purchases.

Legal US Passport Renewal process in Buenos Aires

I would recommend you call the Emergency line at the USA Embassy in Buenos Aires and tell them you must travel asap for a family emergency situation. I'm not sure if they will require proof. Sometimes I just book a fake booking that is refundable in case they need to see the ticket.

Great restaurants on this list. Argentina is blessed with so many restaurants. It didn't always used to be like this. After the crash it was mostly steaks and fries, pizza and pasta. That's it.
