was your DNI close to expiration date or can anybody do this regardless of the expiration date? I have a terrible picture on my DNI and I'd like to have it changed. However, I was told I needed to make a denuncia at the police station making up that I had lost my DNI card etc. and it seems a...

Newcomer Considering retiring in Argentina but have so many questions

    (1) The BBB is not a government agency or a part of the judicial branch. They do not have the authority to force a business to resolve consumer complaints. This means that a business can ignore a BBB complaint. (2) The small claims court is a special court where disputes are resolved quickly and...

Real Estate News Consumer Protection Agency in Buenos Aires

LOL, not “so many great experiences”...just that my experiences thus far (minimal that they have been) have been good. The worst was being overcharged on taxis. Uber has solved that issue. Again, hoping to hear good news on resolution from Jantango. Maybe now we can get back on topic.

    Newcomer Laptops

I'm curious if anyone has purchased a laptop in Buenos Aires recently. I've heard there might be advantages to buying one here, such as it being more cost-effective and cheaper compared to purchasing in the USA and bringing it over. Can anyone share their experiences or insights on this matter?

    Newcomer Change in expat attitudes?

I agree with all of your points, very good summary of the problems of living in Argentina. I guess its up to each individual to decide when the negatives outweigh the positives. I came to the conclusion that the negatives outweighed the positives as well but only after a couple of years. Some...

    Newcomer Change in expat attitudes?

$28 CAD doesn't leave much room for the 12 or 13% HST (whatever it is, I haven't lived in Vancouver for awhile), the ridiculous mark up on alcohol in restaurants in BC, and the 15-20% tip. C$28 I'll allow for a plate, but not for a meal that includes any appetizer or booze -- or bottled water...

    Politics Ignorance or bliss?

@bwyonsea . I totally disagree with your opinions, but congratulate you on your rational way of presenting them. It is interesting, as well as healthy, to hear a point of view so different from my own.

    Politics Ignorance or bliss?

Sadly, a typical response of many Argentines: shift the responsibility for the current inept government away from ourselves and our bad choices, and focus all attention on that Evil Empire, the United States. In bad thunderstorms, a lightning rod comes very handy.
