You are one sick puppy. You have unlocked my worst fears. Actually, the mosquito issue has me wanting to delay my trip until it is cold out. My friend sent me a photo of her leg today. It is all eaten up. I see the government is going to allow mosquito repellent in. I see all kinds of price gouging. Is BA even enjoyable right now? It doesn't sound like it.

Actually the comments about all the dog sh*t are real. Last week I was in Villa Crespo and was talking on the phone and not paying attention. And I slid on some dog sh*t and fell. This is my worst fear! My friend sends me photos to tease me. What goes on in some streets. I see streaks and streaks of stains. It literally sounds like people are slipping all over. Can't they wash the sidewalks each night? I read they wash the sidewalks in Recoleta each night. I'm sorry to go off topic of this post.

I checked out the website and signed up for the newsletter. I just hope I can make it to BA soon.

I lived in Paris before the government finally decided to tackle the dog sh*t problem which was much, much worse than what we see in CABA now. I have seen who, for the most part contributes to the problem here: older seniors. While some seniors will bend with great difficulty to pick up after their dogs, some simply can't. We don't have pets, but as daily walkers, we get to see lots of seniors (75+) walking one or two dogs. Some will try to get their pets to poop next to a tree although that does not help the situation much at all.

Yes. Most of the people that I see that allow their dogs to do this are older. Younger seem to be more responsible but I still see this. Paris was really bad but the government did a good job and now it is not a problem. It is one of those things I wish BA would improve on to have pride in the city. Still too many people don't care.

But I saw that they are wanting to charge for this? @FuturoBA if you buy it can you give your opinion on how good it is? These days with sharing of information I think it is difficult to charge for this type of information. What is stopping someone from just posting the information if they want?

I might take a flyer on it especially if the info is well organized and considering how much time such a resource could save.

I noticed that they were charging for the guide. I don't have an issue for charging but I have found that typically once these type of guidebooks come out, expats just share the information so everyone can benefit.

However, the big doubt I had was that if the people in the guidebook are really great or there is just some commission scheme where the person is just putting people and getting commissions and maybe they aren't the best. Still, I think it could be helpful. I will wait for you to bite the bullet @FuturoBA and let us know if it's worth it. $99 seems steep for me just to get information that people seem like they share on this and other online forums free.

Guides are great but I can tell you what often times happening when expats share guidebooks like this is that even if people are typically dependable when you get a flood of people that get the information then businesses or individuals sometimes get overwhelmed and people that were very good before are not so good.

Case in point was I had a very good plumber. Had him for years. I gave the contact to someone new in my building that was moving in. She was an expat. Then she gave it to a group of expats. And now my very good plumber that I have known for 10 years is worthless now. His prices skyrocketed because he is mostly charging higher prices to expats. His dependability level went down and he is flaky now. Same thing has happened with other people I know.

So now many people once they get a very good contact don't share the details. It is not too common to find a person or business that stays consistent over the long run here. So keep this in mind when looking at guidebooks like this.

You nailed it Betsy! Also, I have just found I get the gringo rate on most things. I asked for a quote to paint my apartment and my price was double the price my Porteno neighbor paid for the same size apartment a week later. This seems to happen on everything from plumbers and painters to buying tomatoes!

Yes this seems to be geared towards the absolute newbie. I am not saying it's not worth it but I notice their weekly newsletters are just stuff I see posted on X. Same type of stuff on X or this forum and you can easily get this but I agree it can save time. But many of the links for meet-ups are free and once you bookmark the site you can see it. But the free weekly newsletters can save time.

100% Correct. It is difficult to get consistently good service over the long run but impossible once people start sharing contacts with expats. All the prices go up and service goes down. Those in the know, don't share their contacts other than very close friends or family.

Hi @ognjen. What is the selection process to be listed in the guide? Is this people you have personally used and can vouch for? Do these people have to agree to give you some commission? Or are you making some fee from them? I just want to be clear if you have some selection process for good people or just using people willing to pay you some fee?
