Guess Down/Up loading speed is one of the main concerns for digital nomads , BUT also worth considering is the time of no service.. ! means no Internet..! Sometimes at night , silent, or daytime..!
For me interruption of service at night is irrelevant but for those working with different time zones..?

I own apartments in Recoleta and Palermo and I have what was originally Fibertel/Cablevision. I think Personal has since acquired them a few years ago. I haven't seen my bill in a few years since pre-covid as a property manager pays my bills. But the service is typically dependable although I was recently there when service went out for 2 days and it was painful.

Yes, at one time I owned many apartments in Buenos Aires and I always used Fibertel and it was by far the most dependable option. I just asked my property manager and I have 300 MB speed which is the fastest plan available in my area and it's 23,000 pesos per month. On the pricey side but I always need fast internet for corporate rental guests.
I'm sure all of these companies are glitchy at one time or another but so far not too many complaints so I'd recommend that option.

I use Personal Flow 300 Mega Download speed, Upload speed only a fraction, speed is OK when directly connected to the Modem, otherwise , via WIFI who Knows.
Major problem is interruption of service . Once it was over 24 hours . The Personal techs in the building claim disruptions are because they are installing a Fiber Optics System. ??

Yes, I think that's what mine is now that Personal owns Fibertel. I have that plan. My download speeds are quite good even with wi-fi but never 300 MB but never any problems streaming or anything.
I totally agree with you that Rich One about the interruption of service. I was just in my apartment a few weeks ago and it was 3 days with spotty on again and off again service. It was horribly frustrating. And when that happens there isn't much you can do as it's happening in an entire service area.
Does your interruption happen often? I didn't know how common that was?

Hard to say, but often when I wake up the system is off means it was interrupted during the night?

Yes, this would happen to me as well. It was so annoying. Fortunately the cell signal was pretty dang good. I have TMobile in the USA which has free data abroad and the speeds were good enough to get by.
But I'd constantly "Hey Google" my Google Mini to see if it was offline. To Personal's credit they said by day X it would be fixed and it was. But it was 3 days of really spotty service but I heard from my property manager that isn't the norm.
Thanks all for your responses. As always, some spirited debate. Just a note on prices. I'm told by my mother-in-law that you need to be on top of these companies as they will overcharge you unless you call them regularly and ask for discounts and upgrades (and threaten to leave if required). Pirates, as she refers to them! They all have deals to lure new customers, but don't extend them to existing customers. In fact, you should probably change providers every 12 months (at the end of most contracts) to take advantage of the current deals. In our case, we've been with Telecentro for a few years and they are charging us just over 4000/month for a 150Mbps plan. New customers pay 2299/month for the same plan.
@earlyretirement you may want to get your property manager to call your ISP to renegotiate. 23,000 pesos/month seems like highway robbery, unless that's for several apts and includes TV, etc? Personal (ex Fibertel) is charging 3590/month for a 12 month plan without your mobile with them (less if you have mobile with them). This is more or less what Claro, Movistar and iPlan all charge for a new 300Mbps 12 month plan.

Yes, I'll call and ask. To be honest, I haven't dealt at all with the bills on this property for many years. I do agree with you that you have to call in every year or so and get a promotional rate. It was for internet and Cable TV including some premium channels like CNN English, HBO, Showtime, etc.

Out in my area Claro have the monopoly. there is talk of allowing another competitor but no definite news

So I just checked my invoice for last month and I have the Personal Flow. The Digital Cable with 2 digital connections for 2 different rooms is 4,645 pesos per month. I have the 500 MB internet service and they charge 11,540 pesos for that.
I did call and threaten to cancel and they said they will lower it to 6,000 pesos per month for the internet for the next year. So thanks for the advice/reminder to call in and get it lowered.
Yes, Claro in some areas has very good signal and good amount of megas! I have it for my phone and house!
I prefer Personal for phones, it has coverage everywhere including the Delta area! I used to have Claro and when I went on boat tours on the river there was no signal!

Since I moved here I have Movistar Fibra and I don't regret it, I haven't had any problems, I pay $16,000 for 300 MB.
