This is great news. I always thought it was dumb that Brazil tries to force Americans to get a visa to come to their country and spend a lot of money. Of course Lula's argument always is, "you do it to us so we are going to do it to you". But that is not a logical argument to me. Most tourists spend a lot of money when they are on vacation and adds to the local economy. Any impediment to visiting is stupid in my mind.

Admittedly, I already have my visa for familiar reasons, and it was a pretty smooth process, but I'm glad there's a delay so that, hopefully, the US and Brazil can come to an agreement.

Yes I got a visa before at the Consulate office in Buenos Aires. I just had to pay a fee and they took my passport for a few days. But I enjoyed it when Brazil stopped enforcing it. My visa expired and I was dreading to go get it but I am going to hold off. I agree with you @Darksider415 it will be good if they can come to an agreement. I have friends that will refuse to go to Brazil if they have to get a visa and they can't just file it online and pay a fee. The need to go in or mail in their passport is too much of a pain for most Americans if they don't live in a city where they can just process it.

The new process for US, Australian and Canadian citizens is an eVisa, like it was before 2019, so it's not bad, it just takes a few minutes and a $80 fee, no sending the passport in or anything. I think it took 10 minutes to file for mine and then I had the approved visa in PDF format about a week later.
