Crypto Worldcoin Iris Scan Scam in Argentina. Is anyone doing it?

I love all things crypto. I'd sell my kidneys for crypto! (Needless to say I'm a Milei fan boy). I am hearing more and more Argentines that are signing up for Worldcoin crypto. The company is paying people to get their iris/eyes scanned and then use your personal information with your consent. See this YouTube video below. They created their own crypto currency token called WLD and has offered 25 units to anyone who scanned their eyes into an orb.

You can't do it in the USA, due to our strict regulatory regulations and rules. But Argentina is free rein. Anyone going to do it? Anyone know where you can do it? Free money baby!

Oh, because everyone's all of a sudden super worried about revealing their top-secret biological details! I mean, how do you even manage to survive the rigorous security at EZE Airport without your fingerprints? Do they have to tranquilize you or resort to a good old beating to get those prints?

And just for your information, in many places, getting a biometric passport involves a charming iris scan these days.
But hey, no clue about this WorldCoin thing, but at least it seems like they're not forcing you into it. What a relief!

Let's not forget about the super-effective spy gadgets that scoop up all your personal info and more. When you throw in DNA tests, it's hard to imagine what else you're giving away. Working for a company in this field, I can tell you that information flows freely, and it doesn't care about borders or ideologies.

Interesting. I haven't heard of this at all. It's interesting about facial recognition and where it is all going. I have friends that refuse to get Global Entry and I ask them why in the world they wouldn't get it or Sentri, or Clear. Many credit cards even reimburse for it. One of them tells me that it's because of his privacy concerns. I tell him the government has all of his information anyway so I'm not sure what privacy concerns he has.

It's amazing now I don't even need to scan my passport as I enter the USA. Just walk up to a kiosk at the Global Entry and then the agent just confirms it's me and lets me go. Many flights now when I enter international flights on American Airlines, they just have a large monitor that scans my face from far away and recognizes it's me. I'm starting to see facial recognition utilized more and more. I don't see this slowing down or stopping. I see it being utilized more and more.

I can't say whether this is good or bad. But it's happening. Most likely in the future, the facial recognition feature will be used by every governmental agency out in the public. I'm sure it's already happening by law enforcement entities. That crazy stuff you used to see in movies that was only in movies is really going to happen.

99.9% of 'cryptocurrency' that has been created has no real-world use case. it was the Dotcom Boom of 2000, but it followed the development of true Blockchain tech from 2018 onward: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blockchain

i don't even look-into these tokens anymore. especially suspicious is the focus on the price, and showing charts (like the previous thumbnail) where the implication is that you'll put a few hundreds bucks in, and make tens of thousands. this is 99% not going to happen to you or me or anyone else.

a "shitcoin" (i'll use sh!tcoin so it's esier to read with the profanity filter) is a coin that was made before the Dec2017 bubble, from sh!t + Bitcoin: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptocurrency_bubble

Investopedia shows "A sh!tcoin is a cryptocurrency with little to no value or digital currency that has no immediate, discernable purpose or value. The term is often used to describe valueless altcoins or cryptocurrencies developed after bitcoins became popular. Sh!tcoins are characterized by short-term price increases followed by nosedives caused by investors who want to capitalize on short-term gains."

a lot of sh!itcoins are pre-mined - that means before anyone actually possesses the tokens, the creators snag a huge percentage of the tokens for themselves, to sell once they peak in value.

the biggest part of cryptocurrency is utility - what does the coin/project do? what real-world use case does it provide? and new coins 99.9% of the time purport to have a use, then end up being a ponzi scheme where people are left "holding the bag"

Bitconnect was one of the big sh!tcoins, but there were thousands: https://www.irs.gov/compliance/crim...more-than-17-million-to-compensate-for-losses

what does Worldcoin claim to solve? here's a real-world use for Blockchain technology, putting real-estate titles on the blockchain: https://lawforbusiness.usc.edu/the-blocktitle-revolution-are-land-titles-moving-to-the-blockchain/#:~:text=Using blockchain's digital ledger technology, and recorded on the blockchain.

fascinating! no more need for title searches and lien insurance. it's all public, on the blockchain, unable to be hacked. also considered are birth certificates, pensions, social security numbers, identities, etc.

for peer-to-peer digital cash that works now, and isn't a penny-stock that you use to 'get rich quick' we already have the libertarian form of Bitcoin, called Bitcoin Cash (BCH). i use this monthly, for real-life purchases, and have used it since Sep2016, and it works great if anyone wants to learn about it: https://whybitcoincash.com

show one post where this is true (99% of the time when an obscure token is pumped, it is just the company's own website, and unprovable) @crypto

Three Arrows Capital was destroyed Jun2022 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Arrows_Capital (it was the creator of "Worldcoin")

i would bet my bitcoin that Sam Altman didn't put his iris scans in the blockchain :)

It sound very interesting. How much this worth now what they give for free?

George Orwell nightmare!
what you're missing is the compulsion aspect that @oil rush brought-up. Orwell's nightmare, of which Peronism is very reminiscent in its Totalitarianism and Che Guevara would have loved as his form of tyranny over others, can only exist with government force. the rest is just silly people scanning their eyes for a couple cents.

Looks like you are wrong. Lots of people in Argentina are doing this now. I am glad to see people signing up and making money. I will see about going.
