Newcomer Fashion tips for my visit to BA

Hi peeps! I am a gay Indo Canadian and will be visiting Buenos Aires next week, staying in the San Telmo neighborhood. It’s my first time, and I’m really excited, even with my nonexistent Spanish!

Thank you for all the helpful work done for tourists. The pinned posts and comments have been incredibly useful, especially since Google can be overwhelming with information. I found it hard to determine what was still relevant.

I do have questions about what to wear, though. I realize you all are in your Spring-Summer phase. A lot of the suggestions have focused on not standing out in a crowd. Unfortunately, I do stand out because I look Indian, and my spring clothes are quite colorful, like colorful shirts and leopard print pants. I also wear hats and sunglasses. I understand that the sunglasses and hats might be an issue, but would my clothes be a problem too?

No one here really cares what someone else wears. I don't think you will have any problems however colorful your clothes are. Lots of people wear hats and sunglasses so no problems there.

Hi! You can wear whatever you want! 💛 Buenos Aires is a really liberal place, so you won’t get any comments or attacks. People here tend to be very open and welcoming, and your colorful style will surely be appreciated. Enjoy your time here and feel free to express yourself however you like!

Some here are very very liberal and forget about colorful clothes. Some here have colorful tattoos all over their faces and bodies so colorful clothes won't stick out too much.

Thank you all for the comments and positive vibes! That makes me feel much more at ease, and I’m excited to be there soon!
No one here cares what you are wearing. I saw some very colorful outfits while I was there. People don't care one way or another. It felt a lot like Spain there. At dinner some dress up but very casual for the most part.
