I thought it was a tipping country with restaurants and cafes?I do 10%, I know in theory Argentina isn't a tipping country, but considering how shitty people are paid, especially in the service industry I say it's part of the cost of eating out. (My husband thinks I tip too much and he's from here, but I remind him not everyone is as fortunate as we are)
15% to 20% in Argentina is too much. Argentines will get angry if you tip that much! I did when I first got here and my novia at the time told me not to and was terrible as it will cause people to expect that here. 10% is enough.15-20% usually
Very true. When I would go out with my friends here and would leave more than 10% they would also gently train me to just leave 10%.15% to 20% in Argentina is too much. 10% for BA is enough. My Argentinean friends are the same way Betsy. They always say I am tipping too much. If service is over the top good I will leave more in Buenos Aires. Sometimes I feel bad for the servers and if service is excellent I will leave more. Meanwhile in the USA they except minimum tip 18% in California and more like 20% - 22%. And the worst thing is they expect that almost everywhere you go here! Even at self serve frozen yogurt it cracks me up when they turn around the tip screen. 🤣10% for BA is enough. I thought they always calculated tip before sales tax. Always a new way to rip the consumer off. No way I'm tipping 22% at a restaurant!10% for BA is enough. That actually doesn't seem bad at all. A 16 oz ribeye steak and a lobster tail for only $110?? That isn't bad at all. But 22% tip is too much. Some nice restaurants in BA have steak prices like that. I haven't found any lobster here in BA which surprised me. I thought there would be some but I haven't found any.10% for BA is enough. My Argentinean friends are the same way Betsy. That is what I noticed when I visit my sister in Santa Barbara. There is a tip screen almost everywhere you visit. Is it like this in the rest of the US now too?And the worst thing is they expect that almost everywhere you go here! Even at self serve frozen yogurt it cracks me up when they turn around the tip screen. 🤣
