I'm curious if anyone has purchased a laptop in Buenos Aires recently. I've heard there might be advantages to buying one here, such as it being more cost-effective and cheaper compared to purchasing in the USA and bringing it over. Can anyone share their experiences or insights on this matter?

Definitely not cheaper. Convenient, yes; buying a computer where you are is by definition an order of magnitude more convenient than hauling it over from the US. But it'll cost you.
Chile is a much closer plane trip and prices approaching the ones in the US.

If will travel to the USA anyhow must work out the economics .... weigh in the issues of local warranty and tech service by a major outlet...! Assume you pay no custom duties?

I recently brought one in for a friend two weeks ago. (along with a ton of other stuff they shipped to my house). I never have any issues anymore bringing stuff in for friends. It used to be a hassle a few years ago but gotten much easier it seems like.
