Messi deserves praise for not attending the Presidential Medal of Honor ceremony

Messi deserves praise for not attending the Presidential Medal of Honor ceremony because it seems to me like he clearly recognized that it was a political stunt to award him the medal this early in his association with the USA. He just only signed with Inter Miami in July 2023, just 17 months before he was told that he would be getting the award. He has not been political during his career and he likely didn't want to be used that way. The Democrats are desperate in trying to win back the ground they lost in the Latino vote. Exit polls for 2024 showed 46% of Latinos voted Republican compared to just 32% in 2020. The shift is even greater for male Latinos with 54% voting Republican in 2024 vs. 36% in 2020.

Agree with you @TonyTigre. It was great to see him not go. He seems smarter than people give him credit for. It is great to see the Democratic party getting weaker. The past few years have been ugly!

Democrats have turned NYC into a cesspool. Born and raised here and recently moved back and it has gotten worse and worse. Riding the subway is like playing Russian roulette now. It is a new world though. I never thought I would see vendors selling MAGA stuff and people buying it. People are tired and want change. Let's see how 2025 goes.

Agree NYC has gone way down hill over the past few years. I go every year and each time it has gotten worse. I was just there a few weeks ago looking at Universities for my daughter and she has now ruled out NYC (Thank God). Within 5 minutes of arriving at the train station we had attempting mugging. The subway stations are horrible at most with homeless everywhere and mostly mentally unstable people. Usually always take subways in NYC and enjoy it but the risk/reward is just not there. The putrid smells too. It was winter and I can't even imagine how bad it would be in the summer. We ended up taking Ubers more because the Subway has gotten so bad. $50 Ubers to go short distances.

Glad he saw through it.

Wow that is cool that he got a Presidential Medal of Honor. He has to be one of the most beloved athletes in the world.

It will be great to turn the page and get past this entire Biden mess. Even my lifelong Democrat friends are looking forward to getting Biden out of the office. He is long since gone.
