MUST-TRY vs MUST-AVOID Street Foods in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s CHINATOWN!

Foodie influence Mike Chen was recently in Argentina and has this and a few other videos about his time there.

As an aside - a few years back I read he moved to Dallas. @Uncle Wong didn't you move to Dallas recently too?? Hmmm isn't that an odd coincidence haha.

What if @Uncle Wong IS this guy. If I remember Uncle Wong is a foodie? I read he posted about food. I did not know Dallas is so popular. I think I read @CraigM also lives in Dallas. Popular place.

Chinatown has reallly boomed over the years. I remember when it was nothing and now the weekends are so packed there you can barely move. I didn't think the restaurants were all that great so surprised to see a foodie influencer saying they are great. Will have to check out the places he recommends.

Thanks for posting! I have been to a few places in Chinatown in BA and the flavors aren't that spicy but that food looks awesome. I am going to add Fengwei to my list to visit when I come back.

This is what I heard. It is always so busy on the weekend.

Great video! @earlyretirement brought me to Fengwei. We went there for lunch and it was delicious! The beef dish we had was good. I was surprised because it was empty but we went during the week and not on the weekend. They tone down the spice level. Seafood isn't common or popular there. We went out to eat 3 times a day and I barely saw any seafood places. He is right that almost no one eats seafood. We did have great sushi at Osaka and some place in Recoleta. Was great. But there is almost no seafood in even the high end restaurants.

I honestly did not think that the food in Chinatown was good at all. Maybe I hit the wrong places. @FuturoBA have you tried any of these spots? Have you been to Chinatown much? I like spicy food and I went to a few Chinese places and nothing was spicy. I will try some of these places. I am coming next month.

Awesome @FuturoBA. Thanks for taking the time to post this. Didn't see it. My kids absolutely love Chinatown in BA. We always stay in Recoleta or Palermo and it's a hike up back and forth but they always want to go there. I don't think the food is as good as other places but after many days of steak it's good for some variety.

Yes! Good memory. This is the place that I brought you for lunch @Johnny . I'm actually going back to BA next month for work if you can join me. Will be fun.

Agree with this blogger. That sushi at Alvear Palace brunch is terrible! Very fishy. In fact I got sick after I went to it the last time. Avoid!

The Chinese food in BA is not very good. The Alvear Palace is overrated. It is good for the foodie to correctly say the brunch at Alvear is terrible value!

Thanks for sharing. I will try some of those places he recommends. I have been to Chinatown a bunch of times but not to these places.

I would have to agree with you Larry. While there are a few ok spots for Chinese food I think overall they are very weak compared to most major city Chinatowns. I used to go to the Alvear Palace brunch all the time. I lived on the same block on Avenida Alvear and went many times for client meetings. I went my last trip and it was just disappointing. And I agree the seafood and sushi are disappointing. It is ok for a special occasion or to try out but generally nothing special like he mentioned in the video.

I saw his post on the Alvear Palace Brunch and I was not that impressed so good to hear I am not the only one. I thought the seafood was terrible too.

This guy lost me when I see he went to Uruguay and did a review at McDonald's. So he is THAT type of food blogger.

They have great food here. This was one of my go to Chinese places when I lived in BA. Very tasty.
