Now the Subte can be paid with Cards and Phones

@enbits what will happen to the Sube card? Will that still be used? It was always a hassle for tourists to deal with that Sube card. So now I guess it will go away?
Who knows. I've been in London for the past two weeks and they have a similar thing to a Sube card, plus tickets plus Cards and Phone. Most probably the same thing will happen in BA: The Sube card will still exist and will be cheaper than paying with credit / debit cards.

Yeah it will all co-exist. Just discounts for Sube card. This will make it very easy for tourists. I never understood why they didn't do this sooner. They will have to improve with technology across all businesses and industries. The local companies are going to get killed if they don't innovate!

In Paris they don't support cards and phones, so even on some first world countries it hasn't been adopted yet.

Starting Wednesday, December 18, 2024, significant changes will be implemented in the Argentine public transportation system, specifically regarding the SUBE (Sistema Único de Boleto Electrónico) card. These changes will affect both the cost of acquiring the card and the allowed negative balance.

The cost of the physical SUBE card goes up:

Current price: $880
New price: $1,500
