For those of you new to Buenos Aires, sign up and download the App, Rappi. You can sign up for Rappi Prime and get really low/no fee delivery of ANYTHING. They have something called Rappi Turbo that you can get almost anything and they will deliver it within 10 minutes. Most times when I'm in my apartment in Palermo Hollywood sometimes it's as quick as 5 minutes. It's insane how you don't have to go to the store for anything. You name it. You want ice, drinks, things from the pharmacy, ice cream. You just order it up via your App and it's there quickly.

I use it for groceries too. On larger priced items or large orders, they will make you give a PIN code to the driver to ensure that you are getting all of it. They won't let the driver deliver it without giving them your PIN #. It couldn't be easier. They have almost everything in there.

It's funny at parties that I have, I'll just keep ordering ice cream. If we run out, I'll order more and it's there within 7-10 minutes. Drinks, wine, beer you name it.

The download links here for both Android and Apple: https://about.rappi.com/

I use it in Mexico as well. You can order food as well from it.

FYI there's a promotion currently as of 26Nov2023 on Rappi for 15 days of free shipping:
"¡Hasta 15 días de entregas gratis! Para tus primeros pedidos en Restaurantes pagando con tarjeta."

..though my USA mastercard keeps getting denied when i try to add it these past few days. i'll try a Visa this week. i see Rappi and PedidosYa scooter/moto drivers all over the city 24/7

Thanks for sharing! Yes, Mastercard many times has problems but I use my Chase Visa cards with Rappi with NO problems at all. I always add my Visa cards so try that.

for other people new to BsAs, my Rappi payment process is still failing! the same thing happens on Cabify, weirdly enough, so i'm not sure if old users are grandfathered-in, and new ones aren't allowed, or if the sites/apps are just having issues.

i talked about Cabify on another thread, but Rappi on both my iPhone and my girlfriend's iPhone (different models and different versions of iOS, but updated Rappi app) won't allow my MasterCard to be added, or my gf's Chase Visa credit card to be added, both phones trying both cards each.

i ended up having Rappi delivered using "Efectivo" as cash payment upon delivery. it was 2 beef Shawarma wraps with extra sauce and a tip, total of 10,000 ARS/pesos, or about 10 bucks using a generous tip and upgraded delivery speed/cost. within 30 minutes i had fresh tasty food! just wish the american credit card would work. of note, the bag we got it in said "PedidosYa" and the majority of scooter drivers i see (95%) say PedidosYa instead of Rappi, although i do see Rappi signs in convenience stores and restaurants. i'm going to see if PedidosYa has an app or site that i can just use them directly, since Rappi keeps failing.

i also am having ATM issues withdrawing more than 40 bills (40 USD maximum each withdrawal, with a 3 U$D fee is crazy!) around Villa Crespo, but i'll inquire about that in another thread

StatusNomadicus,

Strange as Rappi works with all my USA credit cards. I use Visa as that works with no issues. I wonder why you are having issues. Try deleting it and trying it. Or maybe these are new issues but I was just down there last week and no problems at all but I have had my Rappi account for a while. Can you try adding it on their website vs. their app?

Yes, PedidosYa is mostly for food delivery which I use them for. I use Rappi for ice, groceries, drinks, ice cream, pharmacy items, etc.

When I talk to you on the phone today, let me give you my banking contact. He is the best! He can get payments with crypto, ACH, bank wires, etc. and you can pick up in Recoleta. I've been using him for 20 years. I only offer that contact to my clients.

Thanks! I was also trying to set up my Rappi account and ran into the same issues. I didn't know if I had to be in Argentina already and it was using geo-location. But it sounds like some bug. Bummer as I wanted to avoid having to carry around so much cash. Does your Uber account work ok with your credit card StatusNoadicus?

Thank you for all your boots-on-the-ground advice. I saw your other post about the Uber driver and her contact. I will use her. Any other advice you can provide would be appreciated!
