Restaurant Menus with Prices for Buenos Aires

Thanks @Uncle Wong! This is a great idea. I always like to keep track of prices at restaurants so this will be great to see how prices move up or down over time. I just put this post yesterday.

Wow I have not been here for many years. Prices sure did jump up. They probably have a lot of regular customers that go there. I am noticing more deals on Rappi. There are 30% off double quarter pounder and Big Macs today and big discounts on other things. I think stores are discounting to get some business.

Thanks for posting these menus. While they are cheaper than the US, they are high for how little salaries are. I don't get how the typical person there can dine out. Are these places just attracting tourists? I wouldn't think so because there must be locals going too. My friends say prices are still going up at restaurants each month.

Skirt steak for $30 dollars seems like a lot in a country like Argentina that is full of beef/cows.

Agree the menus are good to see what prices are like. At some point I think there has to be some deflation in prices. They are continuing to go up. This was one of the reasons we moved out of Buenos Aires to move to Spain. Food here is cheap and stable. Food prices went up another 5% last month in BA.

It's not just tourists but locals too but my friends have really cut back on going out to eat. Not sure how busy places are.

Thanks for the menu. I found the best deals were the menu of the day menus. Even in touristy Soho or Hollywood they had good deals. Wow the prices of steak came up a lot since a few months ago! I think some of those prices are not too bad but why is beef prices going up so much? Saw inflation on beef was high. Why is this?

I was wondering this and asked my friend who has a restaurant in Argentina and he told me that there are so much exported beef now. He said last year had the highest exports in 55+ years. When there is this much demand it makes local supply get reduced. The higher prices makes more and more people not be able to afford beef.

He said beef production might go up a little in 2025 but it won't keep up pace with the demand for export. And things are still going up with inflation. It has slowed down but continuing. Beef prices are going up everywhere not just Argentina.

I think I read that Argentina has reduced export taxes on beef so that might be pushing people to export more too. This will probably get worse not better. 🙁

Yes, I also heard that beef exports are going up. I just ate at Hierro Parrilla around the corner from one of my apartments. Prices definitely have moved up since a few months ago. The restaurant was full inside but mostly all with locals. Only heard one table speaking English.

Here is my receipt for me and my wife. $101 USD for Asado de Tira (we shared the large portion), Mojillas, french fries (fries were terrible and overcooked), a water, Aperol Spritz, chorizo and bottled water and 10% tip. And you can leave the tip on your credit card now.

The food prices aren't bad but coffee prices are about the same as here in the USA. I was always amazed how expensive coffee is there.
I agree about coffee prices. I guess the import taxes are high in Argentina for coffee so until they lower the taxes it doesn't seem like prices on that will go down anytime soon.

I was amazed at how some of these cafes are always full. I went to one on Libertador and it was jam packed full of locals drinking $5 coffees. Remarkable considering how low salaries are there.

Here you can see the updated prices of Helados Italia ice cream bars.

Another data point on prices and menu as of today, January 12 at Republica del Fugo which was amazing! Great food and very affordable.

Great food! Very affordable too. The food was delicious. A fraction of the prices of food in a similar type of restaurant in major cities of the USA. Especially Southern California where I live.

We got a water, lemonade, Aperol Spritz, bread, Provelta, Mollejas (some of the best I have had in BA), Milenesa with pasta, Salad, and Pear dessert (also incredibly delicious). It was 76,100 pesos ($65 USD) and you could pay cash to get a discount so potentially 66,490 pesos ($56). I paid with my USA credit card. You can also pay the tip with a credit card. They just have a separate credit card terminal for tips but no problem at all using a card. This is great to avoid using cash.

Everything was very good. At lunch it was full with mostly locals judging by listening to people speaking. I heard the person next to us and they were speaking Russian but going out mostly locals. Not too many tourists which is normally the case this time of the year.
