Restaurant Menus with Prices for Buenos Aires

Another great Meal at one of my favorite restaurants in Recoleta- Bis Bistró.

Address: Vicente López 1661 Local 12

Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/GnCVk24ZCQJqZCBcA

One of my favorite places is Bis Bistró. It is located in one of my favorite tiny passages in the city. You would walk by it and not know it is there.

It is a Michelin Guide-rated restaurant in the Bib Gourmand category with good quality, good value cooking.

Very chic restaurants with tables inside and outside and the staff is always great. Great wines too. (Actually was surprised the wine prices went up so much but the food prices were very reasonable)Went with my wife and best female friend (my former CFO). $171.42 USD 187,500 pesos but 55,000 was a bottle of wine so you can see how reasonable it is for the 3 of us.

2 orders of Mollejas which was the best I've had in BA, Proveleta, 2 waters, 1 Lemonade Jar, bottle of red wine, Huge plate of Ojo de bife, french fries with fried egg on top, Tomato salad, Coconut Flan.

All the food was incredible. Highly recommended.

Thanks! That menu looks great. You seem like a foodie. I thought most of the food in BA was bland but the places you recommended to me were all terrific (Sotto Voce, Osaka, Lima, La Mar). Adding this to the list.

Very reasonable sans the wine. I am not familiar with that vintage but it must be quite good at that price. Expensive lemonade!

You have good taste in food earlyretirement. This is one of my favs. Very reasonably priced for the quality.

I went to Don Julio today. I'll post a separate review in the Don Julio thread but here are my impressions today. I put photos of all the menus on an X post.

I noticed this my last trip here. I think they don't even need to try anymore. Funny about the tomatoes. I was thinking the same thing!!!

I went to Madre Rojas last night with my wife. This is one of our favorite steak places. I think the quality is better than Don Julio at much more affordable prices. It's all locals mostly eating here. I posted a review with menu prices.

A place that has a decent breakfast is Le Pain Quotidian. They have several locations around the city. They have a nice bakery and great breads. It's better to go early in the morning as they make it fresh. A breakfast for 2 people comes out to around $30 USD. 32,150 pesos.

Here you can see the menu. You can't leave a tip on your card here. It's about 50% / 50% for places so far that will allow you to leave a tip on your card. The government was working on getting this across the city but so far only around half will let you.

Madre Rojas is an excellent and consistent place for steaks. I very much enjoy it.

Had a business lunch with famed Buenos Aires reporter Jose Luis Cieri. Really enjoyed chatting with him for 2 hours about real estate, politics and the economy. Saw eye to eye on everything. He congratulated me for calling the bottom last year and jumping into the real estate market and catching the bottom.

Went to Accademia della Pizza on Santa Fe. Never been here before. I'm not a big fan of Argentine pizzas but I had a calzone that was very good.

Just hit one of my favorite places El Preferido de Palermo. Posted a report but posting here to cross reference menu prices.

Yes, it's touristy but still my favorite Milanesa in Buenos Aires. Pricey at 40,700 pesos ($34 USD) for a Milanesa or they have a bigger portion for 2 people at 71,100 pesos ($60 USD). But they had a great lunch special which included their delicious bread with olive oil and a small tomato, Faina with provolone, roasted pepper, Milanesa de bife de chorizo, French fries, carpaccio tomato and 3 cups of different flavored ice cream for 2 people. It was 107,100 for the lunch special for 2 which was a great deal.

You can go back in this thread and see the inflation from last year. Went from 41,010 pesos for the Milanesa for 2 people to 71,100 pesos all in the span of 1 year.

$107.37 USD before tip. And you can't leave the tip on your credit card here. I thought they were going to roll out that tip on card plan and the beginning of the trip I was having more luck but last several only in cash.

You can see the thread below for the updated menu.

Damn that is expensive. That used to be like 25,000 pesos less than 2 years ago for that same dish. That is a helluva lot of inflation in a short amount of time!

All my local friends that I met tell me they cut out going out to eat so much. Prices are crazy expensive for locals. El Preferido was one of my favorite meals. Lots and lots of tourists there. But it's not elbow to elbow like Don Julio is.

How do locals manage with these prices?
Simple we don't eat out as much. Also keep in mind some of these places are the most expensive places in BA that are posted. There are well to do locals but even most of them stopped going to Don Julio a long time ago. I know some that still go to El Preferido but not often. People are cutting back and beef consumption has gone way down hill.

There is still a lot of wealth in Buenos Aires. There is a lot of poor too but most tourists/expats are mostly in Palermo, Recoleta, Puerto Madero, Belgrano and in these areas there is a lot of. concentrated wealth. The city is fairly dead. I haven't seen so few tourists in a long time. Besides the popular places, many places are very slow that normally are busy. Even accounting for many locals leaving this time of year for vacation, you can feel the lack of the normal amount of tourists.

I walked around Belgrano early this morning. Always funny to see most cafes don't even open until 8 AM or later. I was at
the door at 8:15 AM at Retamas and the lights were still off then I saw the owner walk in and open shop. Posting a menu below for reference.

Went to lunch today at Artemisia which is a restaurant in Palermo Hollywood with a lot of organic food. If you're into healthy food this place is great. Wife and I both had the shrimp risotto and it was delicious. $58 USD including 10% tip. You can leave the tip with a credit card here.

It was 2 bottled waters, 1/2 Liter Lemonade with berries and the 2 Shrimp Risottos.

These prices are the same probably as US and more expensive than in Europe. A salad for 20,000 pesos?

Well some prices are the same as the USA in some restaurants now here. Ususally this time of year. I just posted this on X today. A burger (very small) and french fries was $23 USD. That is the same or more than what I can get in the USA. Prices have really gone up. What I noticed is a huge slow down in tourism from foreigners. Usually this month is packed but it's mostly locals eating in most restaurants now.

Las Flores in Palermo Hollywood. You can leave a tip on your credit card here.
