Searching for a temporary rental

Hi all, I've decided to extend my stay in Buenos Aires. I've been looking on Zonaprop for temporary / furnished rentals, but I also wanted to expand my search by posting on here. I've included a little bit more about what I'm looking for below.

If any of you have a rental that fits this bill, please connect with me. Or let me know if you have a trusted real estate agent that could help me find something like this.
  • 1 bedroom (not a studio) with black out shades
  • a full kitchen
  • a workspace (desk)
  • Neighborhoods: Palermo, Colegiales, Las Cañitas, Villa Crespo
  • Furnished
  • Laundry in unit or in building
  • Rental period 6-12 months
Thanks!

Try this website mentioned in the other post. I used them 15 years ago. Basic apartments but very low prices. Also email them and tell them you want long term lease and they will discount prices.

I was going to recommend 4 Rent. Also, many won't have black out shades but some owners might be willing to install that if you're doing a 12 month lease so ask the owner or agency. Your best bet is to email an agency and tell them you want long term and give them your area and ask them to send you options with the best price they will do. Airbnb is expensive but if you see a unit you like you can ask the owner if they would do 12 month lease.

You can spin your wheels on Zonaprop. Lots of flakes on there.

Airbnb is probably not the best option for a long-term lease. Their prices are also expensive now. @luca try some Buenos Aires Facebook groups for advice. Some friends joined one group called Digital Nomads Buenos Aires. They have some tips for affordable options.

@luca came across your post. Who did you end up using? Can you recommend any companies? Or did you use a realtor?

@Blockchain I found a nice airbnb that I liked, booked through the platform for the first month, and then negotiated a lower price for 3 months afterwards.

Right now I'm back on Zonaprop and touring a property this afternoon. Check under the 'temporal' section in zonaprop.

I don't have a realtor to recommend yet, but when I do, I will certainly post their contact here.

Yes that is the route that most people take is Airbnb for a few weeks to a month and then negotiate longer term. That is typically easier than going the whole long term route with owners which can be a hassle. Airbnb's are usually more expensive but owners will sometimes give a discount on longer term.

Thank you for the update. I tried that company but the apartments were lower-end and not furnished well. The good thing about Airbnb is you get a chance to try it out and see how the noise/location/building is. You don't have that option on most long-term rentals. I met an American that rented a nice apartment on a long-term 1 year lease but the apartment is so noisy.

I might try Zonaprop but not sure if I will stay a year. Thanks @luca! Good luck.

That is what I did @luca. I ended up renting my Airbnb long-term and was a great decision. Owner is great to deal with. I have heard horror stories with other people renting long-term with shady owners.

@Blockchain Okay so I went through the whole rental thing yesterday. The real estate agent we were dealing with wanted:
  • 20% (of total contract value) fee
  • one month's rent deposit, returnable upon completion of contract
  • paid in dollars, cash all upfront
She wasn't willing to reduce her fee or negotiate honestly. It kind of made me wonder what her function is and why she deserves such a high fee. Also my girlfriend said that she didn't like the woman when she met her for the tour, lol.

I ended up just booking an airbnb for a few months since it was furnished, nice, and the fees were less than 20%.
