Hello everyone,

I am in Buenos Aires and I will stay for a month, this is my second day here and I am happy! this country exceeded my expectations, for me the gastronomic experience is very important as I am a food lover and I have heard that the "porteños" are fans of bodegones so I am curious to know about them and where to find them here. Any recommendations would be welcome!

Hello,
During my stay in Buenos Aires I was lucky enough to be able to go to several of these bodegones, the truth is that it is an experience that you should not miss. As I understand it, bodegones are a kind of restaurants in which the dishes are abundant and tasty, they focus more on the quality of the product and not on the aesthetics, so it would be the opposite of a gourmet restaurant in my opinion.
Buenos Aires is full of these places so you will have no problem finding one.

Hello Sun,

The idea of bodegón is usually used in Argentina to refer specifically to a gastronomic establishment whose menu consists of traditional dishes at affordable prices. These places do not stand out for their sophistication or elegance, but their main attraction is the quality of the food.

These bodegones are characteristic of the City of Buenos Aires. They usually offer a classic menu, with recipes with many decades of history. Milanesas, omelettes, omelets, omelettes and stews are a must in this kind of places.

Bodegones to visit in Buenos Aires

EL OBRERO

About sixty years ago, in the industrial neighborhood of La Boca, El Obrero was founded. This place of meals was born as a restaurant whose customers were the factory workers. Of course, its name is a tribute to those who filled its tables every day.

At that time it offered only four dishes that stood out for being abundant and cheap. The place began to transcend beyond the neighborhood and diners from other places began to arrive, even families.

EL ANTOJO

El Antojo is located in the neighborhood of Villa del Parque, is a large room, for approximately 200 people, very cozy to visit with friends or family. It is known that its waiters are very warm and patient and that the presence of its owner is commonplace.

The comments from diners are good. Already from the bread basket that they serve as soon as you are welcomed, you must be prepared to eat delicious and abundant food. And a curious fact are characterized by making the best milanesa.

EL FERROVIARIO

Located in the neighborhood of Liniers, the name of this bodegón is the name of the club it belongs to. Next to the field of Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield, you can imagine that the soccer essence is still felt.

Although its gastronomic proposal is not very wide, its grill has national fame. In its picturesque lounge you will be able to order the classic wine in penguin accompanied by a soda siphon. Undoubtedly a true classic among the bodegones of Buenos Aires.

LA ESQUINA DEL ANTIGOURMET

La Esquina del Antigourmet is one of those bodegones where you can enjoy a hearty and tasty meal without having to spend a lot of money. With super affordable prices, this place is ideal for those who want to enjoy the typical food of Buenos Aires without having to worry about their budget.

Although the food is nothing fancy, that doesn't mean it's not good. On the contrary, the dishes are very tasty and well prepared. If you are looking for a good option for a snack, this place has several options, such as the Spanish omelette with onion or the spinach fritters, which are delicious.
