When does the $20,000 bill start circulating?

They’ll start circulating at the end of October. Now, we just need them added to ATMs and self-service machines, as they still don’t even accept the 10,000 bills yet.

Frustrating because the ATM machines don't seem to work with even some 2k bills. Hopefully they get all of this sorted out.

Is anyone getting many of the 10k notes? I have gotten a few from Western Union but it is not that often. What is the point of having these bigger notes if they aren't widely circulated or work in the ATM machines.

The last few times I've got money from the Western Union on Cordoba and Montevideo it was all in 10k notes. I usually get there as soon as it opens to avoid waiting though, maybe they run out early. The one on Florida near Peru never has them, sometimes they don't even have enough 1k notes and I end up with mega stacks of 500 peso notes

That's good to know. The WU office on Armenia/Guatemala also has 10k notes if you go earlier when they open too.

I also got some today from a cueva. Seems like they are everywhere now. Makes things easier since everything is so expensive now with Milei. Prices have skyrocketed so definitely need many of these 20k notes. 🙁
This will be great! When I went earlier this year they only had 1,000 peso bills. It was annoying carrying around all that cash. Was like paying with $1 bills!

Before I left we only started seeing the 10k bills so it is good news that so many are seeing the 20k bills. Makes life much easier having larger notes.

I feel nervous and paranoid carrying around these 20k bills. Logically I know it's less than $20 but years of paying for everything with 1000 peso notes has changed my brain structure or something
Ha, I wouldn't be nervous with these notes. A welcome relief. Do you use cash for many things? Locals often use cash but I thought most foreigners use their credit cards from home country. Is this not case? What do you use cash for? Just to get discounted rates?

It is only about $16 bucks. Here in the States I never deal with cash at all except for valet parking. It was a royal pain in the ass carrying around so many 1k bills. I couldn't fit it in my pocket. I mostly used my credit card but some places gave a big discount.

When I was there you couldn't leave tips at restaurants on a credit card. Have they changed this yet? I heard it was coming soon. I also had to use cash in Cabify and Didi rides. I tried to use my credit card wherever I could. It's not a huge difference anymore. If they can allow tips that would be great.

Paying 1k at a time was nuts. @LyellLanatone the biggest hassle might be just getting change. When paying $1k at a time people never had change and I just rounded up and let them keep the change. I hope once the 20k notes are all out there people don't use the excuse of no change. That would be my only worry that people say they don't have change which often seemed like the case when I was there.

That is what I hate that no one has change.
