As far as I can see the cash from the IMF is to refinance the current debt.

Hopefully they don't blow it on the exchange rate controls. The government is blowing through cash trying to protect the peso. They sold almost a billion US dollars the past few days. It's not going to send up well if they keep doing this. These 2 economists are saying will end in disaster again.

Bloomberg says today NO agreement and other countries do not agree to give Argentina so much money up front.

I thought the IMF deal was a done deal. Didn't the head of the IMF announce the other day that it was a done deal? What happened? I don't have Bloomberg. Does anyone have the link to this so I can read it?

I am worried. What will happen if Argentina does not get the $20 billion? Won't things collapse?

The member nations of the IMF still has to approve this. The USA only has 16% of the votes. There is no agreement yet. Things are up in the air. The IMF definitely will give billions if not for self preservation. But the up front money is what is in doubt and the amount. There is no way for the IMF to know what the funds will be used for. They don't want Argentina to blow it all on propping up the peso. They can easily blow a few billion in one month doing that.

I would guess if the IMF did not end up giving the more fresh funds Argentina is in trouble and Milei would probably be toast. The turmoil by his friend Trump couldn't have come at a worse time for Milei!

If the loan package is not big enough it will be like this from before corralito. Look at these articles. Reminds me of Caputo and Milei so confident that they will get all the money. Probably would be the same type of thing where daily we hear about IMF agreements and then wham.
