Food & Drink Argentine restaurants shine brightly with the announcement of its first-ever MICHELIN Stars! - (Michelin Guide)

Yes it is true that I was expecting meals to be more inexpensive as my husband has been raving for months how affordable Buenos Aires was. I was expecting something different based on how poor I read the economy is. We had several expensive meals but I believe the most expensive meal we had...

Food & Drink Argentine restaurants shine brightly with the announcement of its first-ever MICHELIN Stars! - (Michelin Guide)

I had not realized that several of the restaurants my family dined at were Michelin restaurants! That explains why they were more expensive. In light of finding this out I would say that they were affordable compared to other Michelin restaurants we have dined at around the world.

Helados Italia - Best ice cream bars in Buenos Aires

Thank you so much @earlyretirement for this review. I remembered this post and I looked for it while we were in Palermo Soho. My kids loved it. We stopped by every time we were in Palermo. The locals definitely have a sweet tooth.

Food & Drink Don Julio - Which wine do you recommend?

We had a splendid dinner at Don Julio with my family. The steak was delicious and portion sizes were excellent. The sides were also delicious. The wine was exquisite. One of the finest steaks we have eaten.

Food & Drink Does anyone else notice their coffee recently not tasting good?

I was super disappointed with the quality of the coffee in most places. It was very good at my hotel, Park Hyatt and a few other restaurants but we had some coffee in several cafes and it tasted very bitter to me.

Beware of Fake false counterfeit bills at Western Union or anywhere else!

That seems incredible to me that you can get a fake bill out of a bank ATM machine. They must be very good fakes if it can be in an ATM machine.

Newcomer Is a guide necessary to go to the "Mercado Central"?

Great info! Am I seeing this correctly that this place is 45 minutes outside of the city? I assume there is nothing else to do there but eat? We tried the pizza in Buenos Aires but I was not a fan of the flavor and also they put too much cheese as that video shows. It must be a local thing...

    Newcomer Tipping in BA

We did not know it was only 10% and we were tipping 15% in all the restaurants we went to. We also tipped our Uber drivers for each ride as they were very safe, polite and friendly. We always used Uber Comfort.

Newcomer Is there a Tienda Leon bus service between EZE Airport and Aeroparque?

Just keep in mind Uber is very affordable in Buenos Aires. I don't know how much this bus service cost but it was very very affordable taking Uber all over town. We use Uber quite a bit while traveling abroad and never paid lower transportation costs to get around town.

Food & Drink Don Julio - Which wine do you recommend?

My family and I went to Don Julio and the steaks were all delicious here. It was one of the more expensive meals however. We also had wonderful steak dishes at El Preferido, Fogon Asado, A Fuego Fuerte, and Cabana Las Lilas. We did not have one bad steak while we were in Buenos Aires. They...

Economy Argentina isn't the affordable option

I am not sure what is going on. I was just posting on my experiences. I did mention we went to touristy places to eat and it was my first trip. I was expecting it to be very inexpensive in all places. It was in many places but many meals we went to were pricey for the 4 of us. We went to...

Buenas - I have a question about Credit Cards (2024)

You do NOT need to bring tons of Cash now. You can just use your Visa/Amex/Mastercard and as long as it's a foreign credit card outside of Argentina you will get the MEP rate. You should be able to see the MEP rate on many websites like https://www.dolarito.ar/ I just came down to Buenos...

Newcomer Visitor new to Buenos Aires in August 2024: Three Inquiries

We stayed at the Park Hyatt hotel. My husband's work paid for the hotel rooms. We got 2 rooms and we did not want to hassle with an Airbnb as we wanted a 5 star experience and we did not have to pay. He got reimbursed for the stay. I was surprised at the price of the rooms. It was over...

    Western Union

I am curious what do people use cash for? My husband said it was formally different before with two different rates but he was pleasantly surprised you can charge almost everything to our US credit cards at a favorable rate. We used Uber everywhere so we didn't need cash there either. The...

Newcomer Visitor new to Buenos Aires in August 2024: Three Inquiries

Ironic as we found the opposite. We found Palermo Soho and Palermo Hollywood to be super touristy and Recoleta we thought it was more local besides the touristy Cemetary area. We only saw foreigners in Palermo Soho and Hollywood. Airline tickets were very expensive coming down to Bueons...

Economy Argentina isn't the affordable option

My family dined out quite a bit during our 2 week trip. All the places we went I did not think prices were too affordable. Cheaper than the USA to be sure in some places. But some restaurants were more than the USA. Larry is right we spent far less in Spain vs. Argentina. Our most expensive...

    Newcomer Mosquito invasion in BA

We tried these burning spirals to repel all the mosquitos but they didn't work. This was one of the turn offs of moving to Buenos Aires for my family. We found the mosquitos awful. My husband had a friend there that invited us to an asado at his house. He had a beautiful house with gorgeous...

Trip Reports Primavera en Buenos Aires (Spring in Buenos Aires)

To be fair, there aren't many coming to Argentina. We asked our company and they said there aren't many corporate executives that have moved to Argentina. It seems like some digital nomads and tourists but you can't argue that the economy in the USA is bad vs. Argentina. Unemployment is very...

Newcomer What are some Top Bilingual English and Spanish language schools in Buenos Aires for my children?

No we did not finalize our decision. We came down to visit Buenos Aires last month but my kids did not like it much. I liked Recoleta very much but I was not too thrilled about other areas. They had very nice large houses in the suburbs but I felt it was too far outside of the City...
