Poverty has no limit in Argentina

Seems like a lot of great news lately in Argentina. It used to be cheap for us in Brazil but now it's expensive and all the Argentines are coming to Brazil!

Does anyone else find it strange Argentina still thinks they won the Falklands War?

Oops. Someone is getting fired. https://en.mercopress.com/2024/10/24/argentina-to-sack-whoever-used-the-falklands-in-an-official-document?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss&utm_content=main&utm_campaign=rss&ct=t(RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN)

Anyone used Care There in Buenos Aires? Concierge medical care

Awesome they speak Portuguese too! That could be very helpful for all of the people from Brazil that spend time here.

    Newcomer After Milei's Veto—Hatred appears

I worry about this. The country is very divided almost evenly. Even peaceful protests now seem to have people fighting and becoming more violent. It seems like this will only get worse? I have heard from my Trump supporting friends the same. But Democrats I know say the same thing about the...

Banking What is going on with the Blue dollar? Why is it going down?

Someone posted the steps the government was doing to intervene in the dollar and peso. It is on one of these threads. I live in Brazil and used to come to Argentina because it was cheap before Milei started. Now everything is expensive. Now people are coming to Brazil as it's cheaper. Inflation...

Banking What is going on with the Blue dollar? Why is it going down?

I would have to believe eventually the blue dollar will get stronger again. But there is so much intervention I can't tell what it will do in the short term. https://buenosairesherald.com/economics/debt-transfer-cepo-government-faces-ar34-trillion-in-maturities-in-2024

More and more locals are fighting back against crime

I wouldn't say this is normal here but many people are hot headed in Argentina. The really bad economy isn't helping but this lady definitely overreacted. I'm sure the city has insurance and it would have paid to repair her car.

    Day 1-2

Great trip so far @CraigM. Did you decide to go to Iguazu Falls? When you heading there? I will be curious what your thoughts are since you were initially hesitant to go. I think you will really love it.

If you had an Argentine friend in a really bad situation

Lots of people in Argentina and other places too complain how life isn't fair but don't do anything to change their lives. Granted things are very tough now in Argentina but people are still getting by. Living at home at 21 isn't the worst thing out there. That is totally normal here and many...

How can the food here be so bad ?

Worst food on the planet? You're crazy! If you can't find a good meal here there is something wrong with you.

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

I only go for special occasions. Once a year type of place to celebrate my birthday is ok and you're right we have to book far ahead of time. Amazed it is still so busy with the poor economy but the last few times I walked by it was 100% tourists and probably the same price or maybe even...

Starlink antena installed in Patagonia. The estanciero couldn't be happier.

They are expanding fast in Brazil too. Many people benefiting with the technology. https://www.bnamericas.com/en/news/starlink-gaining-ground-beyond-rural-underconnected-latam-spots#:~:text=In%20Brazil%2C%20the%20service%20registers,126%2C000%20accesses%20in%20the%20country.

Is the Expat party in Buenos Aires coming to an end?

This is the biggest issue that I find. When I was younger they said if you retired with $X it would be enough but inflation really changes that. The USD is worth less each year and that trend will most likely continue as the USA funds more wars it can't afford and printing money. It kind of...

Changes in the SUBE: users who do not have it registered will have to pay up to $589

I have totally experienced this as well where someone will hear a rumor and then tell their friends. I will say that makes NO sense but people believe what they want to believe. Much to their detriment.

    Black people in Argentina

I can tell you that I visit BA with many friends from São Paulo that are of Asian decent. They all love BA. Never heard of any of them having issues. Not to discount that someone had issues but these days with social media many people are looking for attention or race baiting people for views.

Does anyone else find it strange Argentina still thinks they won the Falklands War?

I don't believe that the younger generations even care about the Falklands. And the people in the Falklands would never agree to being ruled by Argentina so all of this is a non-issue. No one would purposely choose to have an Argentine passport vs. UK passport.

Medical If COVID comes back and mutates into something else will you get another vaccinated against it?

My cousin is a physician there in Buenos Aires and he is the one that mentioned it to me. I don't have any specific numbers. He just mentioned that the other day and I am heading in town. Does anyone think we will see the lockdowns like before if so?

Medical If COVID comes back and mutates into something else will you get another vaccinated against it?

I heard that the hospitals in CABA are seeing a sharp increase in the number of COVID cases again. Anyone know where I can get a booster?
