What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

I shall remain positive. I trust Millei knows what he's doing. Considering the mess the corrupt K's left I'd say he's doing alright. 👍

What happens if Argentina gets too expensive? What are alternative cities/countries to move to when it's overpriced in Argentina?

I'm a foreigner and if anything my standard of living has improved since coming to live here permanently 16 years ago. Now that the K regime has been sussed out things can only get better. Onwards and upwards I say. 👍

Banking Bank Account With Just a Passport and CDI Number (No DNI)

The only reason I can think of is an Argentine company having an agreement with the bank so a foreign employee temporarily based here can collect their salary.

Banking Bank Account With Just a Passport and CDI Number (No DNI)

Must admit to being amazed when reading posts from those who were able to open bank accounts without a DNI. Especially as there's not a lot else you can do here without showing a DNI.

Don't count Cristina Kirchner out for a comeback

You must hang about with the wrong type of folk then.

Politics Is the Pope a Peronist? 🫨

She's never liked him due to his political leanings. Must admit most of what she says about religion and politics goes in one ear and straight out the other with me. I don't give either topic much thought....got nicer things to occupy my mind with. 😁

Argentina Is Still in Crisis: Why Lower Inflation—and Milei—Might Not Last

It's hardly surprising given how long he's been in the job. Considering the disaster the last bunch of chancers left it'll take years not months for things to get better.

My Argie missus and devout catholic can't stand the bloke.

Argentina recession leaves once-bustling Buenos Aires restaurants hustling for customers

The number of new outlets far outweighs the closures. To be honest most of those that closed sold an inferior product so their time was up anyway. It's a similar situation with the property market here. Older properties are getting knocked down and being replaced by plush new ones. It's boom...

Argentina recession leaves once-bustling Buenos Aires restaurants hustling for customers

Same out here in the sticks. Despite all the financial doom and gloom I keep hearing about. New cafes, bars, restaurants and all sorts of shops just keep on opening up. There must have a hell of a lot of spare cash knocking about.

Banking What is going on with the Blue dollar? Why is it going down?

Well I know sod all about it so you can take what I say with a pinch of salt. Although I have a dollar income I'm not getting that fussed about the falling Blue rate. My wife has a tidy peso income so we won't go without. If it means your average Argentine will eventually end up being in a...

Visas How complicated is it to obtain residency in Argentina?

My missus who is Argentine born also has British and Spanish passports. I got the feeling the reason she gave me for not bothering with getting Argentine residency was purely a financial one....there's nothing to be gained. Quite the opposite I believe.

Visas How complicated is it to obtain residency in Argentina?

I've had my residency for 15 years. When I recently mentioned to the missus about Citizenship she said ''Forget it. You're British what on earth do you want Argentine citizenship for?''. She's right there are no advantages whatsoever....just hassle.

How can the food here be so bad ?

Don't get me wrong I don't expect to have the same range and quality of food available here as I can get when dining out in Scotland. As I said the locals seem to be happy enough to eat pasta and pizza all the time when not eating asado. I just wish the restaurants would be a bit more...

How can the food here be so bad ?

We very rarely eat out to be honest so home cooking does us. Argentines aren't very adventurous when it comes to food.

How can the food here be so bad ?

I live in a town out in the pampa not Buenos Aires. Asados aside the food here is mostly Italian based. As I'm not a lover of pasta or pizza it doesn't leave me with much choice when we eat out. No problem for my Argentine wife but it is for me. When eating out in a similar sized town in...

How can the food here be so bad ?

I must admit, apart from most asados I've had over the many years I've lived here. Overall, the food isn't great quality.

Desperation situation - I caught my maid of 12 years stealing from me toilet paper and food

Let's face it the reason it was cheap was because of previous governments operating a false economy for years to be popular with the lower earners. In order to sort out their mess prices have had to go up and will continue to do so for a long time yet. That's why the likes of maids/cleaners need...

Desperation situation - I caught my maid of 12 years stealing from me toilet paper and food

Could be wrong but there seems to be a common theme on this and many similar threads. Which is, expats love to live here as long as it's cheap for them to do so. As soon as it starts costing more to live here they begin to talk about leaving. If that's your way of thinking then I'd suggest you...
