Newcomer Airbnb has extremely slow WiFi Internet speed. Any other options?

I found this website on Twitter. Any suggestions from you fine folks? I rented an Airbnb and I love it except for the painfully slow WiFi. The owner told me before that the internet was "fast". I confirmed with her as I have to work remotely as well. I asked her to do a Speedtest and she told me it was 20 MBPS but it's barely 1 MBPS. The owner showed me the bill and she is indeed paying for faster Internet but she said she can't control if the company is providing it or not.

I asked the neighbor and she said she also gets a slow connection. She shared her connection which was nice of her but it's is only 1.5 MBPS from hers as well. How can I solve this? The owner told me that she can't easily change the plan. She said they need to come out and swap out the modem and their next appointment is for 3 weeks and I am leaving before then.

I notice that all over the City I see Personal WiFi Zone as a network I can select from. How is this option and how do I get it? I need at least 35 MBPS or so to get decent quality Zoom video calls. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I don't use it but I found this on Persona's WiFi website.

So, who gets to use the Personal WiFi Zone? Well, it's for folks who have the Personal internet service at home, no matter the speed or type they signed up for. All you need is a device that can connect to the "Personal WiFi Zone" network.

But, if you're not into having Personal internet at home, this might not be for you. Many people prefer regular mobile services like Personal (the fastest) or Claro (the cheapest). Whether this suits you depends on what you're looking to use it for.

Right now, I'm using a Claro 4G hotspot as I'm having the same issue. It's pretty good and not too expensive, but I only use about 1-2 gigabytes per day. I'm getting 15 gigabytes costs around $3 USD. Not an ideal solution. I had the same issue with the owner offering to upgrade but she said they had to come out and visits are weeks and weeks out.

If you're stuck with a temporary rental and can't switch to a better Airbnb, your choices are a bit like having only one flavor of ice cream. The public Personal Wi-Fi Zone is okay for checking emails, but don't expect it to throw a big internet party.

For a more exciting option, you could grab an internet package from Claro and turn your phone into a hotspot. It's like giving your phone superhero powers. For about $10 USD, you get 40 GB to play with. Just be warned, the upload speeds are usually on a leisurely stroll at 10-15 megabits per second so not the 40 mbps you are wanting. Not exactly Usain Bolt speed, but hey, it gets the job done!
