Any guesses where we think the Blue dollar exchange rate will head in 2024?

If we were to imagine a scenario where prices experience a 4X increase while the US dollar remains inert, such an occurrence appears exceedingly implausible, if not outright impossible. You would start to see social unrest and that would introduce a myriad of variables. Consequently, the dollar would seek an equilibrium value amidst the turmoil.

In such an altered reality, the absence of incoming tourists would become a conspicuous facet of economic life, transforming restaurants like La Cabrera and Don Julio into unexpected enterprises like ice cream parlors. It is noteworthy that, historically, no Argentine government has managed to regulate the value of the Blue dollar without the backing of substantial dollar reserves.

It is nice to see the blue dollar go up a bit over the past few weeks. I exchanged some yesterday and only got 1050 to $1 US but maybe because it was sunday and not many places open. I see the rate is higher than that today.

"Uh-oh, maybe Milei is not such a great idea after all"?
you mean, "what if liberty and economic freedom to trade are not good ideas after all" - Milei is just deleting corrupt laws, so your political shilling makes no sense. the best thing for you to do is to go away from this Expats forum, let us talk about Buenos Aires without your constant political blabbing, and come back in 4 years and let us know if the overall economy is better for most people (and the paid protestors and gnocchis don't count)

Milei's prescription might sound like chemo for the economy, but hold on – what if the cure ends up killing the patient?
Socialism is the mind-virus cancer you speak of, continuously killing the average person...so a more apt analogy would be surgical removal of the cancer (de-regulation). but nice try on your political attempt, Commie! no one agrees with you other than your fellow 3 Peronists here. there were plenty of subsidies and "poor protections" in place 2020-2023 and yet the poverty level rose to 50% - but you don't give a sh*t; you just want your tribe to win. go away, please! this is an Expat forum, and you sound stupid. in fact, can you even link a single useful post you've made? i don't think i've seen one. yet, we have people like GlasgowJohn and BetsyRoss offering historical lessons and posting useful links to information for all of us. why don't you try reading more, and posting less?

As everyone knows, Milei is making life more difficult for the everyday Argentines. Life is very expensive now.
no, just you, Flamingo, CheVos, and Avocado. that's it...no one else agrees with you. life has been more "expensive" with Pesos for many years now, but when your political master is in charge, you cheer for a 50% poverty level. such a scumbag, and such a worthless political useful-idiot you've become

Western Union today was 1,901.50 today.
1901 Pesos/Dollar??? shows 1244 today: https://www.westernunion.com/us/en/home.html

Milei is a showman. Dollarization was never going to happen.
many suspected he was saying Dollarization as a strategy to win-over the IMF, whereas he really just wanted competing currencies in a free market. and since Diana Mondino confirmed that contracts can be denominated in anything, this was probably a really smart move on Milei's cabinet's part. @BowTiedMara already covered this:

Does anyone know where I can see a historical price of the blue dollar rate over time? I see it for the normal rate but I'm trying to find one for the blue dollar rate. Thanks.

Yes, you can see it here below:

Argentina getting more expensive by the day.

If only you all listened to Uncle Larry. I told you how expensive it was getting.

You actually nailed it how expensive Argentina would become. I have to hand it to you. I think digital nomads from USA are mostly going to leave. They are only looking for cheap places and it's not cheap anymore.

I got a loaf of bread yesterday and crazy prices!

JP Morgan report said they saw the blue dollar at 1,500 pesos to $1 USD by the end of 2024. Let's see if they are correct.
Apparently that is what the experts say...We will see, Argentina is a box of surprises 😊

Interesting on the estimates for 1,500 pesos to the $1 dollar by the end of the year.

No one knows what the dollar will do. No one. Look at the numbers and they are ugly. Consumer spending is down. No one I know is buying anything. Auto sales are down. Probably will be many companies going out of business this year and next year. Consumers can't spend what they don't have. Argentina is expensive now. Tourists will stop coming too. Digital nomads already are stopping travel and read forum and you see some are leaving Argentina too.

Experts say, we'll see what happens...

According to the City Guru, inflation-adjusted peso or sovereign bonds will be the best investment alternative in the coming months.

"The dollar blend sooner rather than later will end, we will return to a single exchange rate, and we will have to be careful with commodity prices going forward."

Interesting article and advice from the same guy.

Others talk about the cepo and investments...

In short, for Zuchovicki, lifting the stocks and attracting investment depends on both politics and economic conditions, and he therefore stressed the importance of a balanced and sustainable approach to ensure long-term growth.

I mean dollar dropping to 500. Bring back the jaguar!!!
Ah ok got it! Hard to say what it will go to. Some big banks on Wall Street are saying 1,500 pesos by the end of the year on blue market. Hard to say. I dont' think any of them really understand Argentina.
