I don't think Milei knew it was a scam but he definitely got paid for access to these scammers. It is widely known that his sister was charging thousands of dollars to people to get access to him and for meetings. I don't know if Milei profited off Libra on the actual trading but I'm confident that he got cash for introductions to these bad actors.

I agree that it is terrible what he did but think most Argentines that support him aren't going to change their mind about him. He still has a majority of the population supporting him. People who supported Milei aren't going to jump ship because of this. The alternatives are far too worst to imagine. Many of my friends were shocked he would do this and the timing but most chalk it up to his greedy sister that asked him to post.
