I don't think Milei knew it was a scam but he definitely got paid for access to these scammers. It is widely known that his sister was charging thousands of dollars to people to get access to him and for meetings. I don't know if Milei profited off Libra on the actual trading but I'm confident that he got cash for introductions to these bad actors.I just listened to the interview this morning and one thing for sure this guy is scared for his life. But he is a total scammer. Milei probably didn't know it was a scam but it's all almost a certainty that someone on his team took payment for access to him. He hopefully will learn a good lesson with this that he needs to be more careful who he surrounds himself for. This seems common sense to me not to get involved with things like this but if his sister told him to do it he would and wouldn't think anything of it.
Unfortunately, Argentina is full of corruption. It will probably be impossible to remove corruption in Argentina any time soon. At least in my lifetime. This has always been the case and probably will always be the case there. It's one of the few reasons why besides real estate, there isn't anything I invest in here. It's the safest investment here and probably always will be.
The whole thing is a shame. He ought to know better.
