If you moved to BA with $100k USD and ...

Why are people saying he needs a therapist? First of all, he didn't say he was in that specific situation. He was asking if "you" were in that situation. If anything, I would interpret his question as asking how someone would spend $100K without judgement about how that money could be used for something more responsibility. If you were to interpret his question literally, perhaps spending 100K could introduce someone to something that he truly enjoys in the world. Isn't that a good reason to stick around, to enjoy those same activities again? I would imagine that person has more than that 100K. Maybe that person has millions in offshore accounts because surely that person wouldn't bring all their money to BA. Would you? Therefore, he can likely afford to enjoy those same activities over and over again.

It is sad to mention the part about no reason to live. I was confused about that part of the post. @TonyTigre I think people were mentioning a therapist because there were post posts about problems with alcohol or maybe I am confusing posters but think it was him.

I would say that $100k is a good amount of money. What brought you to Buenos Aires in the first place? There must have been some things they like so go back to what brought you here.

You had no family, no parents, no wife, no kids, no brothers or sisters and no reason to live. What would you do ?
I met a few people like this here. There seem to be a lot of expats here just partying all the time. I don't go out much but I ran into the same Americans and a few Canadians always drunk at the same place. Sad to think about the no reason to live part of it.

It seems like some people move to Argentina to escape their problems. Moving to a new country isn't going to change your set of problems that you might have had back home.

Everyone has a reason to live. I don't think the fact that anyone has any siblings should matter. Wasn't sure how to take that part of your post if you were inferring that there was no one to will the money to in the event that they passed away.

And sometimes having no family is better than having family if they are terrible people. I grew up getting beat up all the time and in and out of the hospital with broken legs/arms, etc. It was terrible. I moved out of the house as quickly as I could at 16 and had to support myself since then.

You can think you have a hopeless situation and turn things around. Not sure if this is applicable to you or you are talking about a friend. But I would agree with the others if they fill like no reason to live to talk to a therapist. I sent you a DM @HannibalLector of an amazing therapist there in Palermo. She is really fabulous and has helped many of my friends and clients.

Enjoy life if you have that kind of money. One of the coolest and most fun things I did in my mid-20's when I started making a lot of money is I gave myself a what if you only have 3 years to live scenario. I asked myself what I would do if I only had 3 years to live. I traveled all around the world. Blew through much of my savings but really lived like I only had 3 years to live.

It totally changed my life. I ended up meeting my wife during those 3 years. I moved to Argentina to do a start-up. I never would have done that if I didn't go on those adventures.

There are so many fun and exciting things to do not just Argentina but the entire world. Go and have fun in Brazil. I can promise you that if you go to Rio and meet the right girl, they will give you plenty of reasons to live! Rio is a fun city.
