No way BA is near as cheap as these Passport Bros make it seem. I think posts like this are a total disservice and set up false expectations. I also don't think you can easily compare what locals spend on rent vs. expats/tourists which almost never can get a long-term rental like a local with a guarantor. I've just found over the years, many people in the media or bloggers sometimes have never even set foot in Argentina and post about it.More Passport Bros posting about moving to Argentina. Much of this information is completely wrong though.
I disagree with you that food is as expensive as the USA but I WILL agree with you that food costs have gone up over the past 2 years. I've posted an example just with Chori in Palermo Soho which you can see the prices I posted from the menu just in 2023 alone. Restaurants are still a relative bargain compared to the USA in most cities. Food costs are crazy high here in the USA, especially in major metropolitan areas or generally on the entire West Coast of the USA where prices are crazy.Crazy lies. Buenos Aires isn't anywhere near this cheap. Buenos Aires is almost as expensive as some places in USA now for many things. Look at the price of toilet paper. Many restaurants in Palermo Soho are the same prices as many places in USA and more expensive than many places in Europe.
Look at the prices of restaurants in 2022. It was only $6 USD for 2 people. Now it is crazy expensive.
