Water bill (Aysa) skyrocketed up 400% from normal bill. Any others?

Wow I got my water bill today and it skyrocketed upwards. The building shares the water bill between all the owners. My apartment is empty much of the year so I lose out on it but I was surprised with the jump up. Almost 100,000 pesos!

My friends water bill has been going up all year. Some have tripled over the past year. All of these utility bills are going up. That sounds steep. You might want to ask your administration about it but lots of friends are telling me about much higher water, gas and electricity bills.

The inflation in utilities has been very high the past year but the government needed to adjust rates. It's a positive sign the inflation in utilities is slowing down.

Agua y Saneamientos Argentinos (AySA) will increase water rates by 1% starting February 2025 in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA). This measure was announced by the Public Works Secretariat of the Ministry of Economy through the Official Gazette. The 1% increase is lower than the 3.29% that would have corresponded according to the previously established monthly update formula.

The new value of the modification coefficient K will be 1,537.1629. The decision to apply a smaller increase is due to the deceleration of inflation and AySA's progress in optimizing operational costs. The increase in water rates is part of a context of adjustments in various public services:

-Gas: 2.5% increase in transportation and distribution rates.

-Electricity: 1.6% increase in electricity service.

- Fuels: 1.75% increase in the tax on liquid fuels.

These increases remain below the projected inflation for December 2024, which private consultants estimate to be between 2.3% and 3%.The Water and Sanitation Regulatory Entity (ERAS) will request AySA to submit a tariff adjustment proposal for the first quarter of 2025 that ensures the company's economic and financial balance.

It is good to see them limiting the % increase. It has gone up a lot in a short amount of time.

At least there's good news regarding the electricity price hike; the government has halted the increase scheduled for February. It was set to take place during a month of high seasonal consumption due to the summer's high temperatures, so it's good to know that for now, there won't be any increases.
