Why Men Study Spanish

Saw a guy on Twitter the other day, said he got drugged the very day he flew in to Medellin. Said he was innocently sitting at the bar having a drink and woke up in his hotel room minus his cash and electronics. I am not big on victim blaming, but I wondered how his assailant knew which room to take him to. LOL
Yikes. I heard of guys trying to pick up hookers getting drugged but not just at some bar. Something tells me that the guy probably isn't telling the entire story. I haven't heard too many stories of just random people getting drugged. Most trying to meet up with Tinder dates or hookers.

It's wasn't very common in Buenos Aires to get drugged but my interior designer told me her husband that manages many Airbnb's said that 3 Americans in 3 different properties got drugged in Palermo by girls they picked up in clubs so be careful.
Where were the clubs they are going to? Do you know? I have not heard of this but I assume they were with hookers or something. I think probably anywhere in Latin America this happens. Mostly it is usually with hookers.

I heard guys are still getting drugged and some dying in Medellin. Is it really worth it to pick up girls and get robbed or maybe die?
I learned many years ago that there's no sex in the Champagne Room. lol
Forgive my ignorance but what is a champagne room?

Wow! If that is just 3 random Americans then it must be happening quite a bit.

I'm not sure. It is not too common in Buenos Aires or at least it wasn't before but it happened from time to time. I formally owned the largest property management company in Argentina. We managed hundreds of properties and we would hear about it once in a while but it was mostly gay males that this happened to. Buenos Aires used to have a lot of bars that you would go to and you could pick up girls back in the early 2000's. But most of these places closed down.

Typically in these places the girls were more like employees so I don't think they would try to do anything as the police could directly find out who they are. Most times the guys are embarrassed and don't go to the police because they were trying to pick up escorts.

But one guy that picked up a gay male at a club once got robbed twice in the same trip! The worst thing was that the building required a key to exit the building. The thief stole all his stuff including the key to exit the building. So the guy couldn't even leave and he called my office. He didn't want to fill out a police report.

I'm not sure of all the locations of these 3 Americans but at least 1 of them got robbed at Cocodrillo which is a Club that operates really late at night. I haven't been here since maybe 2005 when some American friends were in town and wanted to go. I'm not really a Club person but came with them. I'm not sure if it's the same thing but it is a super late night place that people use to go. It looks like from Google Reviews it has regular shows and food too. I'm not sure but my new apartment I bought is the next block over.

I just laughed that the place is still in business after all these years. My interior designer said one of the Americans said they picked up a girl there.

I'm not sure if he went to the police or not.

For many men it's part of the thrill. I am old and married now so those days are behind me. Back when I went to Colombia people weren't drugging you or maybe they were and it wasn't widely published. Maybe it was always going on but with social media you hear about things more. Maybe it was always going on.

Champagne room is the back private VIP rooms at Men's Clubs or strip clubs.

🤣🤣 I didn't realize this place was still around. I just read one of those Google Reviews and it spoke about a free pizza show. I doubt anything is free in that place!

You better be careful or your young Russian bride may seem old after moving down to BA. I learned it's a dangerous place to live or travel down in South America. Too many temptations. Much different than the good ole USA.
I'm 64 years old. I still look, but I'm aware all those 20 something chicas are 220 volts, and I'm only wired for 110 😉
