Wooohoooo!!!!! One PR down, one to go!

Update on my lady's DNI/Residency in Cordoba/Mendoza:

this month she got her 3-page Residency paper, and then with the help of @Jakoval and @Darksider415 she chatted with ReNaPer and got info about how Migraciones is submitting her DNI application to ReNaPer. well, this week the "IDTramite" changed from "Immigrations is analyzing" to a big red message about LOST PHOTO.

so, apparently Migraciones in Cordoba lost her photo. just like they lost my fingerprints (it's all digital). instead of just asking for her to email the photo to them (it's on her digital Precaria, so she could easily email a screenshot), she now has to go in-person (Cordoba isn't an option now) to take a new photo before they will issue a DNI 30 days later :p

so now, time to do a new Certificado de Domicilio, get a Mendoza Immigrations appointment, go there, take a photo, see what else they say, and hopefully a month later get a DNI issued. we shall see! crazy how Cordoba lost my digital fingerprints AND her digital photo...perhaps some people are doing this stuff intentionally?

How can they keep losing stuff. I mean isn't their main job just to collect documents and upload it? I have heard the same kind of stories from other expats. It's almost as if they are doing this on purpose?

It's almost as if they do this on purpose so they just have a perpetual mountain of work. I have witnessed the same thing here in many offices. When I was getting my DNI a friend told me they could help and I tried with them a few weeks but gave up as I could see it would be painful. I did have to pay an attorney but it was much quicker. They should just fire all of these people and start with a new process.

One of the frustrating things about this country. Everything is more painful than it should be. I saw this on X. Sums up how many employees are here in Argentina.

I'm not surprised really. I remember submitting the same documents twice too. I think I mentioned it in one of my posts about PR. I check my friend's IDtramite for her every day but it still shows 'Migraciones esta analizando tu tramite'. I don't remember my IDtramite being analizado that long when my expediente turned 'resuelto'. Maybe they're thinking about losing something and that is just sadly to be expected :ROFLMAO:

How can the system be this bad? Terrible. I thought things would improve in this country but unfortunately I think some things are broken and won't easily get fixed.

Same thing happened when I went through the process several years ago. They lost all kinds of things. It is impossible that they aren't doing this on purpose. How can one agency be so pathetic?

Doesn't this drive you crazy @StatusNomadicus!? People told me that things there were crazy but just reading these posts in this thread I am starting to get an idea how bad things are. Is everything like that there? Does the President know how broken this system is? I read about an American that was trying to get his DNI there and he just gave up as he said it was too difficult and he didn't want to pay the $$$ to a lawyer.

@StatusNomadicus My expediente became 'resuelto' on Feb 9 and by Mar 3 I received the plastic DNI in my hand. My friend's expediente became 'resuelto' on Aug 19 and now more than a month later it is still showing 'Migraciones esta analizando tu tramite'. So, you're not alone. I don't know what's going on. I'm glad my case is over. May the force be with you!

Very sorry to hear about this @StatusNomadicus but this is pretty much par for the course. I have always kept it real and said that just about every facet of interacting with the government or even doing business there is inefficient and/or broken. Big companies from abroad aren't going to want to invest large amounts of money until they get these kinds of things fixed. It's not just in immigration but the same kind of issues when dealing with other parts of the government.

I fear these kinds of things will take decades to fix.

'Migraciones esta analizando tu tramite'
update again: the "analizando" changed to Print/Mail after a couple weeks (as the ReNaPer chat said it would), and then supposedly Correo Argentino tried to deliver her DNI card to our apartment (i call bullshit) twice. no phone call or message. when re-chatting with the folks there, they said the card was in Mendoza (a piece of important data, since we were initially told if you start in Cordoba you can't change the mailing address, yet it looks like the change to Mendoza allowed a new address.

chat again revealed that they were able to tell her the DNI number, which now she can use to apply for a replacement DNI card, and use the number on applying for MiArgentina app and other useful things

unfortunately I think some things are broken and won't easily get fixed.
it went faster than what i've been reading online, so no real complaints here. Mendoza has been excellent.

I read about an American that was trying to get his DNI there and he just gave up as he said it was too difficult and he didn't want to pay the $$$ to a lawyer.
Milei should just hire me to be his Expat-friendly investigator. i would love to be able to fire all the parasites and make it smoother from a user-interface approach

that guy should be on this forum - i could help him the same way everyone else helped me. my chick has a DNI # now - guess my "non-Spanish" according to the commies here ended up being enough ;)

expediente
resuelto in this case was first week of September, and then DNI was in the mail first week of October, so i'd say about a month from Immigrations to ReNaPer issuing a DNI card.

My friend's expediente became 'resuelto' on Aug 19 and now more than a month later it is still showing 'Migraciones esta analizando tu tramite'.
you can have your friend message me on here or X/twitter and i will help, if you don't have time. the ReNaPer chat has been great on Facebook, WhatsApp, and their site. i think they can escalate things with the initial delegacion of Migraciones

decades to fix.
happy to announce her stuff is totally done for 6 months. now for me to figure-out how much to deposit for Mendoza's Migraciones in a couple weeks. send any of your fam my way if they need help with the new process....i'll write-up a nice guide to post here as a Sticky once we get it all vetted

Hey great. Congrats! But I don't understand why would they say they tried to deliver it if they didn't? Is it just lazy mail men? I'm just trying to understand why they would say that if they didn't. I wonder if that is common?

I would love to read all of your process from start to finish. That will help a lot of people and impressive you did it yourself. If Argentina could just streamline the process. They should want a lot of foreigners moving here. The only downside is you said your girlfriend owns some properties in the States. Is she using that for her rentista income? If she becomes a permanent resident here won't she have to pay asset taxes here in Argentina on it once she becomes a permanent resident?

That happens often where they say they tried to deliver something. Same thing happened to me. I think it's probably just the delivery person that got lazy. I have had that happen when I was expecting something and someone was always home during business hours and they said the same thing. sh*t thing is nothing you can do.

I have a mate that applied for Rentista using his properties in the UK. He used that income for the verification but then when he became a permanent resident he had to pay taxes in Argentina on his assets. Talk to an accountant because Argentina taxes on worldwide assets once you are a permanent resident and living there. If you think the taxes outside of Argentina are bad wait until you see all the taxes you legally have to pay inside Argentina.

@StatusNomadicus I read on one of your posts you said you wanted to escape the US for all the taxes and don't want to pay them there. Just wait until you get your Argentine citizenship and see all the taxes here. You will want to cry. You said you wanted to do everything legally in Argentina. Something tells me you might change your mind. :ROFLMAO:

Great! I hope that with all the terminating of dead weight and worthless employees in the government maybe this will help all the remaining people in different government offices. Let's hope this is the case. Good to see progress on these things. Before hopeless mess but I am seeing and hearing from friends that are ordering packages on Amazon without problems, no missing items, not getting hit up for extra fees or taxes. Maybe things are really changing.
