Newcomer "Yerba Mate" Argentina

My go-to mate is Playadito which is the best I think. I just went to Coto today to buy some after I saw it go viral. I wanted to support this American girl's brand. There aren't too much. You can see it's next to the Playadito which they have a ton out but only 2 bag rows. I saw 2 Porteños also buying and I asked them if they also saw it on X and they confirmed. We laughed about it.

This girl sounds like a marketing genius.

I went to Coto today to get some to try today in Rosario. It is ok. I like Playadito better. It was on discount at 2625 pesos so prices look much cheaper than CABA. But it looks like it is selling well.

Mate isn’t just a drink; it’s a health boost! I’ve been drinking it for a while now, and I’ve noticed it really helps with my energy levels. Instead of crashing like I do with coffee, mate gives me a steady boost that lasts a good part of the day.
Plus, it’s full of antioxidants, which I’ve heard are great for keeping your immune system in check. And if you’re trying to cut back on snacks, mate might help since it’s known to curb your appetite a bit. It’s like a natural remedy: energizing, refreshing, and packed with health benefits.

I honestly think it's just a trend. Right now, the novelty is all in the packaging. I give it a few more months. From my time living here, I’ve noticed that Argentinians are attracted to what's new, and this yerba is just that, a novelty. Plus, it’s more expensive than others that are already well-established in the market.

Correct. Many mediocre restaurants and places are paying influencers to try to market. Argentineans are into the newest and trendy things but they eventually wear out.

I finally tried this Cosmico brand. It's ok. Tastes just like Pipore and it's more expensive.
I also tried it and nothing special or different. Just a marketing trick. It also tastes like Pipore and much higher prices. Just paying for a fancy label. There can only be a limited market for paying more for mediocre product. I am happy for them and hope they sell more. Maybe they will be successful marketing outside of Argentina later but many products are better and less expensive.

This is true. I posted about this a while back. Quality is just ok. Even the owner of Cosmico said in a video he knows quality is just ok. Not the best and not the worst. I know a few people that tried it but they all say the same thing. Nothing special and not worth the extra cost. It's difficult to get people to switch from their favorite brands that have been around a while.

I see this company is now trying to market tin storage containers and other stuff saying people have been waiting for this. If they were so successful with mate they wouldn't need to get distracted with selling tins for them. Just a fad. No one I know in Argentina looks to store their mate in tin cans. This seems like like a marketing gimmick.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw posts on X with them pushing these containers. Most of the popular mate companies are too busy selling mate. Seems like a good marketing trick even if she can sell these containers cheap to always have the brand showing in people's kitchens. I asked my local friends and the ones that tried it said nothing special and everyone seems to have their normal brands that they have been drinking forever.

For any mate lovers out there there is a mate cultural night to learn about mate. Only 5,000 peso entrance. A good opportunity to drink some mate and meet some mostly middle aged divorced women. ;)

Haven’t tried Cósmico yet, but my go to is Playadito for mate and Cbse guaraná for terere
Playadito is the gold standard.

Not just middle aged divorced women but yes many! They are a good chance for cultural exchange. Usually there are some people from other countries. Many from Brazil come too to learn about mate.
