Expat Life: Local Discoveries, Global Connections

Newcomer A Large Percentage of Argentinians Want to Be Digital Nomads: A Growing Trend!

In case anyone is interested in this new visa program, Digital Nomad included, announced yesterday by Thailand.
Thank you. I loved Thailand. I want to go back so bad! Do you know anything about Malaysia @Jakoval for living as an expat? I read some good things about it. I heard it has a very high standard of living like Singapore and very cheap. I watched a few videos but you seem like you are from Asia? Know anything about it?

I've been to Malaysia, only Kuala Lumpur, twice for work but it was around 20 years ago. I think both Thailand and Malaysia are similar in many aspects. The main difference is that Malaysia is predominantly Muslim and Thailand is Buddhist which makes some aspects of life in Thailand feel more liberal and laid-back. That probably explains why a whole bunch of Malaysian tourists top Thailand's visitor charts (see below) as they can just cross the border and let loose 🤣 🤣 Ultimately, it depends on your lifestyle. There are tons of YouTube videos comparing Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, so check those out!

Yikes! That is terrible. But while I was in BA a friend of a friend said their car was also recently stolen. He said a lot of them make their way across the border but not sure if they are sold or used for parts. I didn't see that many police at all around. For such a big city I thought there would be more police officers.

The furthest I went out was Ramos Mejia which wasn't too bad but I heard it could get very sketchy past that. I just looked on a map where Isidro Casanova was and it looks to be a ways from that. Zone of the "walking dead" does not sound nice! Is that where your partner lives? @Jakoval, Why stay in Argentina? Was there any thought to living in Thailand instead with your partner?

I have been to Thailand several times. Things work well there. My friend fell and broke his leg and we had to go to the hospital and I was amazed how friendly, efficient and affordable it was. I like Buenos Aires but I am not sure if I would like living in the zone of the walking dead. 🤣

Funny what you mentioned about 7-11 opening here! I thought the same thing. Although I guess with all the import restrictions a slurpee would be $10 USD here.
@Vince Guess what? My partner's brother-in-law, whose car was robbed and stolen in May-June last year, was robbed again last night and they also took his car while moonlighting as a Didi driver. Seriously, I have no word....

Terrible terrible. I thought there wasn't many guns here. Where is this at? Which area? Maybe someone has it out for this guy. Did he sleep with someone's wife?
