Photographic Exhibition: “Snapshots in the Subway. A journey between day and night”

1724948835721.png

When?

From August to December

Where?

At different stations of the Buenos Aires Subway Network

More than 70 works by the 11 winning photographers will be exhibited from August to December at different stations of the Buenos Aires Subway Network.

With the aim of making the artistic production of our community visible and highlighting the different spaces of the Network, this Tuesday, the traveling exhibition “Snapshots in the Subway: A Journey Between Day and Night” was inaugurated.

The exhibition is part of our cultural plan and will begin at Correo Central station on Line E. It seeks to represent the different facets of the subway, both from a technical and cultural perspective, emphasizing the contrast between daytime and nighttime activities.

This travelling exhibition will be presented at different stations, covering all the lines and representing a different concept of the service in each one through the chosen photographs. The last stage will be inaugurated in the context of the 111th anniversary of the Subte and the third year of Emova, with photographs that show the variety of spaces, subjects, and situations that involve the subway as the protagonist of history.

“We invited professional and amateur photographers to take an exclusive tour of the Subte’s own spaces, where they could witness all the activities and processes that make its daily operation possible. As a result, we developed this exhibition that gives unique visibility to their works and also allows us to connect with our users through a cultural proposal that makes the Subte a more inspiring space,” says Mariana Giacumbo, Manager of Institutional Relations and Media at Emova.

The authors of the photographs were selected through a contest that we held on our social networks, which allowed them to gain in-depth knowledge of daily operation spaces, cleaning and maintenance work in stations, tunnels, garages and workshops. The selection of the photographers and their works went through a curatorial process carried out by Ana Bonelli Zapata and Cecilia Gallardo.

“Snapshots in the Subway. A journey between day and night” will be free of charge and will be available every day, during the hours that the service is enabled, so that users can enjoy it.
