Tango Week
the City celebrates its most emblematic musical genre. Enjoy a schedule of top-notch free shows

1734115327642.png

When?

From December 7th to 14th

Where?

San Martin Theater (Corrientes Avenue 1530)

House of Culture (Mayo Avenue 575)

December 11th is National Tango Day, in commemoration of the birth of Carlos Gardel and Julio de Caro. For this reason, in the days before and after the festival, the City invites you to enjoy great shows, which honor this musical genre that is so much ours and declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Two locations

The Teatro San Martín and the Salón Dorado of the Casa de la Cultura in Buenos Aires will be the venues for these special days: live music, dance classes, exhibitions and milongas. Tickets for the shows at the Sala Casacuberta are free of charge and can be picked up at the theater box office two hours before each event. The shows in the lobby of the San Martín and at the Casa de la Cultura do not require a ticket, they are free of charge and are open to the public.

Save the date for all the proposals!

  • Tuesday, December 10, at 8 p.m. | San Martín Theater (Casacuberta Room)
The Sexteto Mayor will perform. It will be an orchestral concert in the style of Julio de Caro —with his famous formation from the 1920s, made up of two bandoneons, two violins, piano and double bass— which will offer an instrumental tango program with incomparable arrangements.

  • Wednesday 11th, from 5 to 8 pm | San Martín Theatre (Hall)
Milonga marathon, with dance classes, exhibitions and a performance by the Social Tango Company.

  • Wednesday 11th, at 8:30 p.m., | San Martín Theatre (Casacuberta Room)
The Buenos Aires Tango Orchestra will present a concert under the direction of maestro Juan Carlos Cuacci.

  • Thursday 12th, 8pm | San Martin Theatre (Casacuberta Hall)
Conjunto Nueve, under the direction of Julián Hermida, will give a concert. This group recreates the sound of the format that Ástor Piazzolla kept active between 1971 and 1972.

  • Friday, December 13, from 8 p.m. | San Martín Theater (Casacuberta Hall)
The Víctor Lavallén Typical Orchestra will perform with a repertoire that transcends the different styles and eras of music that is increasingly relevant.

  • Saturday 14th, at 6 pm | San Martín Theatre (Hall)
"Así se baila el tango" will be presented, a humorous and emotional show by Laura Falcoff.

  • Saturday 14th, at 7 pm | Casa Cultura (Golden Hall)
Sandra Luna and Fabricio Mocata will present the musical show "Habemus Troilo".

  • Saturday 14th, at 8pm | San Martín Theatre (Casacuberta Hall)
The closing will be with the Buenos Aires Tango Orchestra, which will present a concert under the direction of maestro Néstor Marconi.

Teatro San Martín and the Salón Dorado of the Casa de la Cultura in Buenos Aires will be the stages for these special days: live music, dance classes, exhibitions and milongas.
