Patience is wearing down with President Milei

You can't forget there was always 50% that hated Milei so there is a lot of people that do not like him. And it seems the numbers are going up just from chatter on the street.
I can't figure out which was worse, that silly coin scam or his bush league response to it all. Either way it was the biggest own-goal since Kamala Harris offered free transgender surgery to prisoners.

That is the problem. Even when a politician cheat you and steal from you instead of say I'm sorry or terminate someone he blame the victims! It crazy here in my country. I laugh at that he promote it and then tell people they dumb to invest in it. He said it was for Argentine company to help them.

Craig do you think he will eventually have problem in the United States for this? I don't know how laws work in your country. I see some lawsuits now where he is getting mentioned and named. Will he have issue traveling there? Many my family that support Milei after scam I tell them he a thief and they laugh and say it is good for him to make money with his sister. I don't understand because if Cristina did it then everyone would be crying for her to go to jail!

Is that really true for free transgender surgery??

Argentina has gone from being too close to Russia, China, Cuba , Venezuela and the dodgier countries in the Middle East to being intimate lovers with USA and Israel. Abandoning neutrality has been a huge mistake.

Milei should get back to basics and keep working on inflation and the fiscal deficit. He should also forget about traveling the world to pick up prizes and awards that everyone knows are scams.

He has put all his eggs in one basket seeking favors from Uncle Donald and that is close to backfiring as well.

I always asked myself what the next step was after controlling the budget deficit and inflation. Things are marginally better than before but what happens now?

And what happens if the IMF doesn't send the cash?

Is there a Plan B?

Thank you! I talk to foreigners and they all are shocked at what Milei did. But locals who always have politicians that are scam artists almost applaud it. Many people I know that liked Milei changed their impression of him after that scam.

His response to it was even worse! Think about it! He scammed his own followers and then blames them! The guy is terrible. His sister too. I am hearing more and more stories about his sister. I think they are done. China devalues their currency and Milei and Caputo are toast.

Yes!! The problem is that Milei thinks that being so close to USA and Israel is only a positive and that is not true. Look at Israel. They rushed to fly to the USA Today. Always best to stay neutral. That is why I loved Argentina but now Milei thinks Trump likes him when Trump doesn't care about him.

Thank you @GlasgowJohn. I have been posting about the fake awards for the past year! At a certain point you just have to stop. Did you hear the latest? Trump's people charged Milei and his sister and team $30k dollars a plate to attend his own award ceremony! And Milei paid it. There is NO plan B if the IMF doesn't send the money and now China is going to devalue their currency. Bye bye Milei.

People are finally starting to see how ridiculous this guy is! Talking to dead dogs, criticizing the IMF all these years. Saying Caputo was the worst Minister of the Economy and then making him the Minister of Economy again! Scamming his own following with a crypto scam. And on and on. Look at the ridiculousness of this man!

I would agree that he needs to get back to basics. The problem with wanting Milei gone is you have to ask yourself: what next? There is no getting around that question and what's next in Argentine politics is most likely another socialist dumpster fire. If you think things are bad now, wait until the world's capital markets completely close on you and the only option is China. If you think the US doesn't care about Argentina...

Totally agree. He is Argentina's best shot and turning things around. 50% of Argentines are socialists and want him gone. That will probably never change. He needs to get back to the basics like you mentioned Craig. Just terrible timing with what is going on with the trade wars. If China devalues their currency Argentina is in trouble.

@CraigM is there any sense in the USA if there will be any traction with getting Milei involved with these lawsuits? I don't know enough about how this is done in the USA. I assume with lawsuits they drag as many people as possible into them to try to get publicity and more $$$.

I'm not sure how that all works Betsy, but as you can imagine it is about the furthest thing from most Americans' minds right now 🙂

Yes and that clip was played nonstop in Republican commercials going into the election. Dumb does not begin to describe the past administration, from top to bottom it was just the saddest collection of imbeciles and losers. Fortunately the DNC knows they need to shed this baggage and get back to middle in the worst possible way, and it's happening.

I don't think anyone knows or cares in the USA about crypto scams from Argentine president. The stock market has been melting and everyone is freaking out. Doubt anyone in the US will care about Milei. I don't even think Trump cares much. He has a lot on his plate now. I am afraid the IMF loan will be postponed now.

Totally agree! I don't understand the logic of the Democrats that last cycle. Horrible horrible and what was worse is the main stream media coverage. They were complicit in the fraud. I would have told you the Democrat party was in a lot of trouble heading into the future but depending on how these trade wars go if mainstream America feels the pain of inflation and higher costs Trump and the Republican Party can be in trouble.

But if Trump crashes the global economy would Kamala have been better??

I am sure you are right! My sister and family are losing their minds right now with the market meltdown. My brother was getting read to buy a house in Boston and just had it in the stock market and depressed now as it has fallen so suddenly. I tried to tell him to pull it all out the amount he needed to purchase.

Looking back I wonder if they realize how silly they were. It is almost hard to imagine it really happened. I watch Biden in some of those interviews and laugh thinking about the media that just covered for them. The move to the middle is smart. Several of my family members are die hard democrats but they could not bring themselves to vote for Harris. She was that bad.
No plan B. That is what is scary. Add into the fold falling commodity prices with this craziness from Trump. China debt swap. Ugly ugly.
IMF will come through. I don't think that is even a question at all. It will just be how big it is. I wonder if they will just blow through it propping up the peso? The falling oil prices worries me. Same as all the other things that Argentina exports.

That's a big IF. I think the certainty that things would end badly was far higher under Kamala.
That is what I try to tell my family. The market will come back. It is better not to look at your portfolio. I just felt very uneasy. What is happening was my worst nightmare. I just don't know when to jump back in. My financial advisor told me I was making a mistake selling everything. But today he sent me an email saying how wise it was. I am looking at Google which was my largest stock I had before and seeing it fall 25% so quickly is nuts.

I will just probably wait it out. Everything looks like it is falling no matter how good of a company it is. My other big stock that I had was Apple. Looks like if things don't change iPhones are going to be very expensive. My sister joked with me. When she was in BA visiting me she left her iPhone in a taxi and lost it. She had to buy a new one here. She jokes it will be the same price in the USA soon as Argentina.

I don't think many of his supporters that are losing patience want to see him go. One of the girls I met there said she hopes that the Vice president takes over if he is forced out. She seems like she is really making a push to stay in the middle or even appeal to some on the left. That actually seems like a wise approach.

We posted weeks ago that we had our own polling that showed President Milei's popularity fading. This is matching polls that are coming out now from various sources.

In this Bloomberg article from today.

Fernandez de Kirchner, meanwhile, remains a dominant figure in the Peronist movement. The proportion of respondents who view her positively surged to 41% in the most recent AtlasIntel poll for Bloomberg News, from 28% in December. The US government’s decision to ban her from entering the country over a corruption conviction also risks further polarizing Argentina’s electorate ahead of the midterms.

Yes! What I like about you earlyretirement is that you seem to support Milei but you point out the negative things too and the truth. With Cristina I benefited but she did a lot of bad things too and I mentioned it. Some Milei supporters seem to think he does no wrong and that is a lie. The international media is exposing all of his lies and scams now. Of course his popularity is suffering! And will continue to go down.

He may single handedly be responsible for Peronism making a strong comeback and never leaving Argentina again!

Karina and Javi are pumping up the cash in case they get kicked out of office.
