"The reform of the DNU Law is an attempt to carry out a coup d'état"Javier Milei said that if Congress modifies the legislation on decrees of necessity and urgency, he will veto it because "it changes the rules of the game halfway through."

He still is making many mistakes. He is trying to get other wealthier countries to invest in Argentina and he rejects calls for gender equality. Hell even Saudi Arabia signed it and we know their deplorable history with women's rights. This was a great YouTube video on how Milei has been doing so far.
Prices are crazy now. Several expat friends have moved out of Argentina. A few more are planning on it. It seems like more and more expats are leaving Argentina. Few of my foreign friends want to visit Argentina now because it is too expensive. Even earlier this year prices were already too expensive but forget about it now.Very good article about Milei a year in.
Argentina: One year Javier Milei
Javier Milei became president of Argentina in December 2023 and has been fighting hyperinflation, high levels of poverty and economic grievances ever since. One year later: initial successes, but many challenges.www.freiheit.org
If anyone was expecting corruption to go away in Argentina because of Milei they don't know Argentina. Probably impossible to get rid of.Seems like the more things change the more they stay the same. Is anyone following the latest between the feud between Milei and the VP? It sounds like that relationship is totally imploding! With the mid-term elections to come.
It seems obvious that Milei's team paid off the Senator (Edgardo Kueider). The relationship is so bad between Milei and Villaruel that he didn't even tell her when he was leaving for Italy. Sounds like a dysfunctional relationship. I thought this time would be different with corruption and pay offs but probably can never get rid of this in Argentina.
Milei and Villarruel’s rift grows with row over expelled senator - Buenos Aires Herald
The president and his vice are arguing publicly over the expulsion of Kueider, a Peronist senator who had voted with the government, effectively losing LLA one Upper House votebuenosairesherald.com
None of these countries in South America can make corruption disappear. Especially Argentina. Impossible to get rid of here.If anyone was expecting corruption to go away in Argentina because of Milei they don't know Argentina. Probably impossible to get rid of.
He doesn't need to be going to Italy so many times! He is on the road as much as he is at home. Look at all the trips he has taken already. You would think with poverty at 53% of the population you would focus more time at home. Argentina is in a bad recession because of him. GDP has gone down and prices are very dear! I was in Spain for vacation and prices at the supermarket are much lower than in Buenos Aires. Even many products are more than in America.I just read that President Milei was granted Italian Citizenship. I guess his grandma was from Italy. Seems like it's sparking controversy. Why has he spent so much time in Italy? I just saw he has been there 5 times this year. Why the need to go there so many times?

I think he has only been in Italy 3 times. I'm not downplaying the # of trips but he is making the rounds trying to get investors around the world. Probably making nice with member nations of the IMF.I just read that President Milei was granted Italian Citizenship. I guess his grandma was from Italy. Seems like it's sparking controversy. I certainly understand the frustration but try to keep in mind that when you have as much debt coming due as Argentina, what the world thinks about you matters a lot. Relationships are important. They need to buy time, otherwise they'll have to fire-sale assets to pay the debts off (or default which is an absolute worst case and you don't want that). He doesn't need to be going to Italy so many times! Many he is planning his escape if he has to leave office in a helicopter. That Italian passport will come in handy!
Absolutely. Have to make the relationships even stronger. When you have this amount of debt these countries are betting as much on Milei than on Argentina. So it is important that he get face time. You can only do that by going to them.I certainly understand the frustration but try to keep in mind that when you have as much debt coming due as Argentina, what the world thinks about you matters a lot. I think all of these people understand why he needs to travel but Kirchnerists love to complain and use any excuse to complain.I certainly understand the frustration but try to keep in mind that when you have as much debt coming due as Argentina, what the world thinks about you matters a lot.
