I don't care what they say about me as long as they spell the name of the country Argentina right.

He has cut way down on the number of trips abroad which is smart. I don't think most international companies are going to invest in Argentina until they end the currency controls. Why would they? Look at Elon Musk. Even with Brazil forcing them to close down their operations at X it would have...

Newcomer Argentine rules regarding receival of foreign pension

@StatusNomadicus Argentina's banking system has been broken for a long time. I have bought a few apartments in BA. I also sold a few. What you mentioned about @earlyretirement is correct. The reason he is able to be successful in Argentina is because it is difficult to trust anyone there. He...

The Argentine entrepreneur who seeks to revolutionize the US real estate market with artificial intelligence.

Great you found a place you like. I would disagree with 95% being scumbag realtors in the USA. At least in the USA they do more work and provide more comparables. There are too many realtors in the US but the ones I have worked with have been hardworking. At least in BA it is a different...

    Black people in Argentina

I noticed this. The first time I heard that I was a little taken back by it. I met a group where one of the group members was darker skinned and they were calling him negro. It is common there. Very loving term to them. Agree with this. It is always better to get introduced via people that...

The Argentine entrepreneur who seeks to revolutionize the US real estate market with artificial intelligence.

Great about being able to negotiate down but most likely it's because you're probably just dealing with the seller's realtor that is making commissions on both ends. You are almost always paying a realtor when you buy. Maybe dealing with the seller's agent they might lower but they have no...

Javier Milei Launches Bitcoin Revolution in Argentina

I was faced with the same situation when I purchased my apartment in BA. I didn't want to take the risk of any problems when I sold my property. I don't have my DNI and probably won't get one either. Talk to @earlyretirement. He helped me buy my property using the bond market. It was legal...

Sounds like Milei's approval ratings are starting to go down

I am not on the ground in Buenos Aires until later this year but it sounds like his approval ratings are starting to go down. Hopefully people can hang in there with these austerity measures but probably easier said than done...

I thought Airbnb rentals long-term were protected for the tenant but my friend just got kicked out of a long-term rental in Buenos Aires?

No guarantees. This also happened to a colleague of mine in Spain that was on Airbnb. To be fair he was only paying one month at a time but it was a major hassle to find another apartment with only 1 month notice. Renting an apartment long-term is a royal hassle for Buenos Aires. I haven't...

Rapid collapse of birth rates in Argentina and South America

Agree with you @StatusNomadicus. It used to be that people would have kids no matter what. Even if they didn't have stable incomes. But now more people are seeing how expensive life is and they can barely take care of themselves let alone children. Also, you are correct it is a factor of all the...

A newsletter for expats in Buenos Aires

Funny you mention nameless faceless people @oil rush. I get in my feed on X every day people claiming residency and tax services and they all operate under companies where although they say you can legally pay 0% taxes, they don't have any biography or even their name on their website! That...

Official Thread on Corruption in Argentina - Milei Administration Cleaning up house

Very good idea. Now if they can only find all the assets that CFK has purchased with ill gotten funds!

Water bill (Aysa) skyrocketed up 400% from normal bill. Any others?

Wow I got my water bill today and it skyrocketed upwards. The building shares the water bill between all the owners. My apartment is empty much of the year so I lose out on it but I was surprised with the jump up. Almost 100,000 pesos!

    La Plata - underrated city - 40kms / 25 miles from BA

I don't know anything at all about Masons. I will have to do some research. I haven't visited La Plata but would just based on this post. @FuturoBA how do you define hard core mason? Do they just travel around and visit unique cities or monuments that Masons built?

Rapid collapse of birth rates in Argentina and South America

This sounds like all of my nephews and nieces. They are busy traveling around the world. They don't seem to care about saving money or retiring. They seem to be living their best life now.

This was excellent @StatusNomadicus. Thanks for posting.

Argentina Rentista Visa for 2024? What is the minimum income now for retirement visa for Argentina?

Yes, that is the form. I got one of these many years ago. I can't recall if there was a way to get it online. I did it in person. Very convenient that they allow you to apply for it online now.

Poverty has no limit in Argentina

I like it better this way so you can be assured that even if there are posts that people disagree with at least you can read the unfiltered posts. I agree with most posts but there are a few posters that seem like Peronists. I had posts deleted on the other forum for no reason other than the...

Medical The best deep tissue and therapeutic massages - Estetica.jyn (Palermo)

This website has been around for a long time. It's where all the massage people advertise. The website is very old but I have used it for years. Good advice if you want a legitimate massage to look for the ones that are matriculada which means they have a legitimate massage license and they...

Milei's approval ratings are going up!

As the recession drags on it probably will start to go down. But inflation is tamed so maybe people will give him some more time. But many people have lost their jobs including a few people I know here and they say it's very difficult to find companies hiring now.

    Trip Reports "Barrio Chino", Belgrano

Great! Glad I will be in town for the event. It has been fun watching this area grow over the past few years. I had no idea it was around so long.
