Healthcare costs are increasing again. Just heard from my friend that I met in BA. She is fairly young in her late 30's and married. She has 2 kids and on OSDE's lower tier plan and she is paying 560,000 pesos per month. She just got notice that her bill is increasing again.
The 210 plan is a lower tier plan. I am not sure what is all included in the higher plans. My cousin is married to a Porteña. They are around the same age. They might be a little older around 40 years old but my cousin is 39. Just for both of them they are paying 1,265,000 pesos for that plan.

OSDE is great. That is who I used when I was living in Buenos Aires and I had my two kids there. The 410 and 450 plan are the elite plans. Probably overkill for most people that are healthy. I did have the 410 plan and it was fantastic. Those plans are great. It even allows for cosmetic surgery every few years. Females can get breast implants all paid on insurance.

Unfortunately the health care premiums are rising again. Most that I am seeing are going up 5% to 6% a month again. I agree with those that say true inflation is greater than what the government is saying it is.

That is a HUGE difference between the 210 and 450 plan from OSDE!

Ok that explains the difference from the lower tier and the higher tier plans. That is an unbelievable benefit on being about to get a boob job under your insurance! No wonder it's so much more. No wonder I see so many females here with boob jobs.

Yes @earlyretirement is right. I just asked why they are on such a high OSDE plan and it was for the cosmetic surgery option. She said that she can get cosmetic surgery every several years. That is why it's a higher plan.

After a few months of relatively stable medical premiums, it has jumped up again. I just got an employees bill and it had a big jump up from last month. It is now about 200% more than it was in December 2023. Inflation is being contained on some things like food but it's jumped up on many other things. Let's see if the government can really contain inflation in 2025.

The skyrocketing increases in private health insurance continue, and the coverage is no longer what it used to be. They’ve reduced the available services and even charge copays for medical care. It’s truly ridiculous that prices are doubling beyond inflation. This is why the government is once again looking to intervene, as they believe it’s an abuse.
That's why I believe things were better managed in the past, as there used to be an overseer who regulated them and prevented excessive increases. Now they raise prices deliberately whenever they want.

The free market isn’t working; I hope the government intervenes to stop these uncontrolled price increases. According to this chart, Osde, Medifé, and Swiss Medical had the smallest increases.

Agree these increases are nuts. Mine has also jumped up 200% in less than a year.

Mine too; it seems like an exaggeration. I also read that self-employed workers (monotributistas) will have changes in their coverage. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing.

They’re covering fewer needs and charging more; it feels like the world is upside down. Now they’re even placing limitations on prescriptions for expensive medications.

I still can't get over the inflation there. 6% a month inflation blows my mind.

200% increases on anything in less than a year is mind boggling.

It was 25% monthly rate in December. 300% a year inflation just blows me away. I don't know if I buy their official inflation numbers. Everyone I know in BA tells me rates are way worse than what the government is saying and based on what I'm reading on this forum it sounds like it is higher too. Besides Ubers and sounds like grocery store is about 4% a month inflation, utilities, restaurants, taxis, and just about everything else keeps going up at a fast pace.

Regarding this new resolution, my health insurance sent me an email stating that this will not affect me at all and that I will continue to have the same coverage.

Unfortunately, price increases continue every month; it’s the same story. I agree with Melibaires that the government made a poor decision by stopping its intervention in controlling prices for private health insurance. Now it’s completely out of control.

The steep inflation in private medical care costs has not stopped. It keeps going up far surpassing inflation rates.

Health insurance companies in Argentina have begun to inform their members about new increases in premiums for January 2025. According to the available information, the increases will range between 3% and 3.9%, depending on the company and the specific plan.

This is one category that we have posted in detail about how inflation has been terrible in healthcare insurance costs. It just keeps flying higher much higher than inflation.

The range of increase for January 2025 will be from 3% to 3.9%.

OSDE: 3.6%
Swiss Medical and Omint: 3.9%
Galeno: 3.7%
Medicus: 3.8%
Medifé: 3.4%
Sancor Salud: 3%

Healthcare premiums have gone up 200% year over year from December 2023 to December 2024.

In December 2024, the average increase was 3.8%. The inflation reported by INDEC for November 2024 was 2.4%.

Companies in the sector argue that these increases are necessary to guarantee the continuity and quality of the services provided. Additionally, since July 2024, health insurance companies have had the freedom to establish monthly increases in their premiums.

Members are bleeding out with this type of inflation. For the first time, many people are having to drop their private coverage.

Whats the opinion around here on Luigi ?

My own experience is you pay a fortune into healthcare for decades and decades then you finally make a reasonable claim and an AI chatbot denies it ... yeah that makes people incredibly mad and desperate
Never think it's a good idea to kill someone. Insurance companies are obscene in the USA but don't think killing the CEO is a solution. I would have rather him bombed some United Healthcare building that had no one in it. But not take a human life. I was under the impression his family member was with United Healthcare but that doesn't seem to be the case.

My dad died of cancer and even though he had coverage the SOB insurance companies made his last years miserable. He also had a lot of out of pocket charges. Had to argue with the insurance companies so I don't blame people for being angry. Not sure killing CEOs is the solution. We are at a tipping point however and not sure what it will take to get them to change. Many people feel sympathy for him or can relate to the anger.
